    Americas Cup just got interesting.

This is sailing I will watch, specially when they get the big boats out.

I've always enjoyed the America's Cup racing. I can certainly imagine it's popularity soaring, though, with the feature that so many people watch other forms of racing for: CRASHES!

Me too Used to race Paper Tigers and a nosedive on a broad reach was terrifying - hurled out the front and getting tangled in the rigging with the boat on top of you.

Yeah. I had a mad mate had a Hobie - I was once flung about ten metres out ahead of the boat when it dug its shoulder in during a jibe in a storm on the Northern Wairoa River. It then buried the top of the mast into the mud on the bottom of the river. Took about half an hour to right it again...

Bastard thing it was...went like stink though. A better skipper might have helped - this guy was about as mechanically inclined as a fish. He actually managed to bend one of those substantial alloy frame pieces once - also in a storm. Fortunately I was absent that particular day...

    Fair enough.

Got the Blue Riband for fastest Atlantic crossings

But a good old steam ship race would be mean!

I did some work for Oracle (who are based here in Warkworth now) several months ago, it was a shipping container that they take with them to regattas to use as a smoko room/gear storage. They were in the throws of finishing thier two boats for Portugal at the time. Those things look a mighty quick on the water!...
