    Bobber build

In support of the new forum subtype, thought I'd chuck up some photos of one of the bikes I have on the go.

I'm pleased to see the new category. I look forward to the photos others post up.

They are in chronological order from start of build to where at now.

There is a long list of things to do, more parts to arrive. Today I had a go at using extrusion polyethylene compacted into tubing to make a one of a kind suicide shift arm, but we couldn't get the flow through a 7/8" pipe good enough to compact it into a poly rod.

Looks good, the sheet-metal hugger is a nice touch!

This sounds interesting, but I have to admit I have no idea what you are trying to do, maybe because I have no idea what a suicide shift arm is

Suicide shift is a hand operated gear lever and foot clutch set up. Ahh shit did I miss the sarcasm there?

I've been working on the bobber for nearly a year now, but it is very low priority in the scheme of things.

Yeah, I'm planning on running a suicide shifter but not with a foot clutch. It'll have a hand clutch on the shift lever. I want to keep the bike covertable back to something more "standard" should a square want to ride it but can handle the jandle of 16 inch apes with a suicide shift and sprung seat.

The intention is that with a few bolts undone, it could have the stock bars back on, foot shift on, and normal hand controls.

Just seemed like a good idea to do it that way - not everyone wants a suicide shift!

While this is the third time I've said this to myself, I think I'm pretty well finished getting the rear fender to shape.

I'm no panel beater, and dont have an english wheel or an auto hammer. Or even a good panel beating dolly rig.

Bit of bog and fingers crossed!

Finished the seat fab - originally had problems with it flexing so I made another plate that bolts to the bottom, that has bent & shaped flat stock welded to it. Haven't put the leather lacing back through the eyelets yet as I'll tidy it up later when it's time to look at painting the whole bike.

Working on fabricating forward controls now. Got the brackets made, just need to weld them, and then make a new brake linkage. Wont need a shift linkage as it'll be running a suicide shifter.

Not really a sprung seat by the look of it though? Nice work though. I like seeing people give it a crack!

Yes, it's a functional sprung seat. I didn't want a hard tail as I think struts on a wishbone swingarm looks -->

My skills not such that I could modify and cert a frame.

And I think my first post says part of the point on this was to be able to convert back to a more "standard" configuration.

Oh. The bolts/pins slide through the bar under the seat?

Yeap. Can pre-load them. Works well with the swing arm shocks. Not a very comfortable seat though.
