Can you recommend a decent priced Auckland bike mechanic?

    Hi everyone,
Just picked up a Honda 1992 VFR750F. It's in good condition- but has hardly been ridden over the last two years, and we don't know when the last service was.

So can you guys recommend a fairly priced value mechanic in Auckland to do a good full service to it? With my last bike I had work done at Red Baron in Grey Lynn, that was alright, but expensive.

    Cheers,
    Jordan

Do it yourself. Way cheaper, and much more satisfying for both you and your accountant. As long as you don't go stripping the case/sump

With a little effort you could even check the valve clearances yourself. Mechanicals aint no rocket science.

So far looks like Motorcycle Doctor (details on the banner ads on threads) who'll come to you, and Shaun Harris is looking for work (a quick search will reveal his threads) if your in the Bays.

Thanks guys- I'm limited in experience, and have NO tools whatsoever- except for whatever under the seat. The thought of doing it myself is appealing, though daunting.

I figured at least this first time to hire someone, then down the road, pick up some tools and start getting a little more comfortable with it.
I'll look up Shaun Harris/ Motorcycle doctor, cheers for the recommendation!

Definitely give George from the Motorcycle Doctors. He's top notch, does very good work and reasonably priced. Goes that little bit above and beyond as well, which is always nice when you're forking out your hard earned money.

Worth asking botany honda if they have any service history though - I had a bike that was imported by red baron and I went back to them and was able to get all the past service history.
