Minor engineering, also chain & sprockets (RF900)

    Two queries:

    1) I need some simple engineering work done on a pack rack. One of the minor horizontal bars has broken free on one end, will need to be welded back. As well, I want some mods done to the top-box mounting plate: It is cracked and was mounted (by a previous owner) to the rack using twisted wire, bent bolts and washers, a few screws and a piece of wood. I'd like to have it repaired and modified to bolt-on more... elegantly than before! I have a design idea that is simple enough.

So the question here is, can anyone recommend an engineering shop in Hamilton that can do this (preferably inexpensively)?

    2) Chain and sprockets. I know the RF has an odd 532 chain, and I don't know if the one fitted has been changed or not; is there an easy way to tell? The chain appears ok, except for some patches of corrosion on the sides of some links(!?). The rear sprocket appears to be a 43tooth (same as OEM if I'm not mistaken), and seems to be in good order; haven't checked the front one yet.
If / when I replace them is a kit like this one any good?
On that note, there are a number of combinations of sprockets available to vary the final drive. The one above appears to be very close to stock, but would anyone recommend a change here too?

Bike is new to me, but I'm taking my time trying to get everything clean, right, and sorted, but with very real budget limitations. I can hardly wait to get it all put back together and get riding again!

Anyone with a tig or a little mig should be able to glue your luggage rack together again.

As for the chain and sprockets. 532 ? see about changed them to 530 ?

a week old but RF conversion to 50 (530) chain & sprockets is easy & cheaper than 532 or 535 or what the heck ever was std. JT sprockets do fitment for these so the local bike shop should have the JT cattledog & be able to look it up for you. I did mine, no dramas encountered. You will need to pay someone to rivet the chain together as I assume you don't have the tool. Stock ratios seemed to suit the bike.

ah heck I'm too good to you, the part numbers for 50 (530) are:
    JTF 513 (15 tooth)
    JTR 816 (43 tooth)
    110 links

this is for 530 conversion (also called 50).
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
