Not sure if you guys are going to take old north > peak rd > SH16, or are planning to take old north rd all the way to helensville.

If you do take old north all the way to helensville there's quite a nasty pot hole a couple corners past the old noth / peak rd intersection.

Just thought i'd give you guys the warning.

Not sure of the names of the roads, but we come out by dairyflat, not helensville....thanks for the warning though.
The weathers looking a bit dodgy for tomorrow, you guys still wanna go?
I'm thinking we'll have a second look at wellsford , if it's good, up through paparoa to oakliegh then maybe around through dargaville, back through the paparoa rd then down to waipu then back home via 16 again.

How about if it's thunder & lightning like outside at the moment!? WOW that thundercrack seemed to be only 10m above my roof!!!

Hope it blows over and you guys get a good blast up north!

    Woohooooo!!!!!!

Just got back around 25 mins ago......

    Awesome ride guys.....

Quite a few of us turned up, from memory:

Death, Draco, Loosebruce, SixpackBack, Another yellow Gixxer 1000(or was it a 600), a silver GSXR750, MikeL, Another bike that looked like mike and me....(that's all I think)......apologies if I missed anyone.

First stop was at wellsford which I mistook for an early lunch break so went about tightening my chain..... ......sorry for holding you guys up....and thanks for giving it a final check and giving it the OK DEATH.

Went up north down some lovely roads and had a great time. I think todays ride was almost as long as yesterdays ride - maybe bout a bit shorter....

Lunch was very nice at a nice little restaurant called Mondos....since we had been riding for a while I was REALLLYYYYYY hungry so to the amusement of others ate like an absolute pig.....

Luckily the weather wasn't too bad and mostly quite bearable the whole day.

Surprisingly I had NO moments today ..... riding on a near bald back tyre I had a few pretty bad wobbles in the heavy rain but luckily I was expecting it to jump around at that moment and managed to control it by standing up and letting the bike finish its dance under me. I hope I didn't give you guys following me a fright....

Also I apologise to any of you who were offended by my overtaking, I had full visibility in all those situations and pulled out and ahead only after making sure the road was clear ahead even going to the extent of standing up to look over blind crests which those of you who ride with me know I do a lot. Once again I'm sorry for any issues caused.

Highlight of the day for me was when DEATH passed me for the first time in the day doing a 10-o-clock wheelie.... the last time I saw a wheelie that high was at the Taupo track day

Today's ride had a bit of everything: some dry roads, some wet roads, some gravel roads, some sunshine, some rain, some wind, some magic moments, some "oh shit" moments...
But even at its worst, it beat sitting at home watching TV...
Embarrassing confession from the geographically challenged: here I was thinking the next stop was Dargaville and we arrived at Whangarei. Doh!
But I discovered some new roads...
    Great ride.

Today's tip: anyone thinking of ordering lunch at Mondos in Whangarei: remember that the first to order is the last to get served.
