    Red Light Cameras

Coming soon to a place near you (if you're a suburban/city dweller)

    http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/red-...rashes-4428529

30% of urban motorcycle fatalities occur at intersections, and 51% of urban motorcycle injuries. Hopefully these can reduce that significantly!

So the other 25% of people in the study were the ones running red lights?

I definitely approve of these cameras...

Think how much more money they could make if cyclists had registration plates!!! If they did we could start charging them ACC levies too!!!

This sounds like a great idea!

The amount of bikes hit at intersections in NZ is ridiculous!
So now when some poor biker gets cut down...left unconsious & unable to tell their side of the event...the camera can be used to see what REALLY happened...instead of just relying on the car drivers account "who didn't see us".

be careful what y'all wish for, these cameras see an increase in accidents in general (mostly nose to tails) & false convictions. They are a "good intention road to hell"

Other 'down-sides' of a small town:

    No roundabouts
    No parking meters
    No lanes to split.
    No fixed speed-cameras
    There's probably more...

i was heading to a job in Pine Hill on thursday and got stopped at a roadblock, there would have been a dozen cop cars a big police van and about 20 armed cops milling about, the chief was doing a TV interview and up the road a bit there were about 20 black power gorillas lined up outside the house, i suggested to the nice police man with the rifle that we wouldnt mind if they shot the lot of them, he just smiled and redirected me. Reading the paper it seems that there are reinforcements from the plack bower in town from Timaru and tonight i spotted a few mungies outside a house in Corstiphine, usually you never see the gangs about. It would be nice if they all disappeared one night, perhaps beamed up into a alien spaceship to be probed or even as bait in crayfish pots
