Living on a high fibre, low fat, fresh fruit and vegie, whole grain diet does not make you live any longer.....it just feels like it.

But ....traveling through Denmark and Norway a couple of years back, the availability of fatty fast foods with little healthy choice alternatives was very evident...so noticeably so, that it was often a talking point on our tour...so I can see where the concern comes from.

Real sick people need specialist care too. Don't spend my tax dollar on self inflicted blubba slobs.
    There is a simple solution...
Just fit hospitals with entrance doors of an appropriate width. The blubber-monsters can waddle around and work off some weight before they can fit through the door and be treated.

Your all forgetting its Denmark, not NZ or the UK introducing the tax. It will probably be done in a well thought out and efficient way. They have managed to keep the numbers of cars down on the roads by taxing.

just some information that might be of relevance

    http://www.livepositively.co.nz/Page...-professionals

    from that page
"For the past three decades it has been widely accepted that saturated fat increases the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Recent research, however, has revealed the original hypothesis may have been too simplistic, suggesting we need to look beyond merely the type of fat to the entire nutrient composition of a food when assessing the link between dietary intake and disease.

Join us for this FREE webinar, when Professor Paul Nestel, of the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute, explores the latest findings on saturated fat, dairy, and cardiovascular disease, and the early indication that dairy consumption, especially low fat dairy, may reduce the risk of incident diabetes"

Rather than saturated animal fats they should be looking at things such as High Fructose Corn Syrup, Palm oil, and Fonterra feeding palm kernel to our cattle. These things were never meant to be in our food chain.

They aren't even food, they are just synthetic fuel, perfectly designed to make body fat.

If it had a mother and a daddy , dont eat it ( or eat very little of it ) , use oils sparingly incl dairy .., oh and a use smaller dishes
what people have said to me is that, basically half the plate is green leafy, and quarter , is grains and pasta rice stuff then your potatoes and less than 5 % fats, oils and dairy

I'm sort off , OK sort of , had a vege pizza for lunch , ,,and croissants but for dinner , salad , with a vinegar dressing , a Thai green curry with fresh chilli's from me garden

My biggest problem is me drinking , .... there are somethings in life , I just cant give up , and drinking is one

Must lose another 3 kg to be safe , and 11 to be a lean mean drinking machine ....friggen impossible ,

If it's meat - eat it - just cut off any excess fat. Oils - use Olive, coconut or lard - replacing animal fats with vegetable fats leads to an excess of Omega 6. Increase your Omega 3 intake - oily fish, salmon, free range milk and eggs, or supplements - avoiding Alpha-Lineolic acid which is plant derived. Lower sugar and simple carbohydrate consumption - 2 of the main causes of the current obesity epidemic, teher are some who say - if it's white, don't eat it - polished rice, flour, potatoes, etc...and avoid anything using trans fats - hydrogenated vegetable oils, vegetable shortening, margarine, commercially baked goods, fried foods, crackers and chips.
    Alcohol....hmmmm...always a problem....just don't overdo.
and somehow get rid of excess stomach area weight.

Bugger - that's me stuffed then!
