    iPhone 4s announced

    Hi all,

    I am just starting this thread to basically gauge what you all think about the new apple product coming soon(ish) to our shores.

    It's not the huge revamp/redesign that some were predicting.

    Will you be tempted to get it? Spec wise it seems like it's nothing ground breaking compared to what the Android phones are pumping out these days. But I'm sure it will hold it's own and still be the most popular smartphone or thereabouts.

    And with the Google Nexus Prime announced next week I beleive, it would be silly not too wait and see what they will offer with that new phone.

    Are any of you with the iphone 4 tempted to get the new 4s when it comes out in NZ? Or is it not a big enough jump in specs etc to justify spending some pretty hefty coin on it?

    I personally am on an 'old school' phone and have been awaiting the announcement of this new phone for ages and am hoping to get a smartphone soon enough. So any smartphone to me will be pretty epic seeing as I've never owned one before.

    I kind of wonder though if the 4s isn't the 'breakthrough' phone some said it would be, then perhaps the iphone5 is the thing to revolutionize the mobile phone market. Don't think I'm going to stick with this old sony ericsson for much longer though...

    Anyway... Thoughts/Urges/Feelings on this new product

    If it is anything like the 3GS upgrade, it'll just be faster and maybe some minor software changes. Nothing to get too fussed over, iPhone4 is currently fast enough

    No it isn't the big leap forward that some expected but the improvements are relevant and mostly useful particularly the extra battery life and things like the new A5 processor and the 8mp camera and improved reception capabilities.
    It's nice and keeps the phone realitively current.
    If you work looking for something revolutionary then the wait continues, iPhone 5 perhaps...

    Early adopters had to lug these briefcase style phones around

    I say it is the best iPhone in its design generation.
    Look at the trend:

    1st design: iPhone/3G -> 3GS
    2nd design: iPhone 4 -> 4S

    After that will be the all new iPhone (maybe).

    Siri is very cool and will be very useful but it is not the world's first. My Galaxy S2 has that very similar stuff provided by Google and Samsung. Siri is ofcourse more advanced, but definitely not the first.

    Introduction to the iCloud will definitely keep Apple users stick to Apple products for sure. I'm not sure if the new cloud computing will be fully utilised in NZ due to lack of speed and so on but definitely it is something advanced and will become useful in the future (I'm writing a report on this topic for uni research currently).

    If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

    brings back memories of when the word yuppie was brand new, the yuppie trader was the expected market but it was the tradesman that found them most useful which was lucky for the market mobile market after the stock market crash of the 80s
