If you look at the talktime of the Galaxy (3 hours) compared with the new iPhone which is about 2-3 times more I think its a no brainer. As for the reason to upgrade, I think the processor alone is worth it. You will want to install apps once you have it and it will make a difference, let alone with the new iOS enhancements.
I'm an IT guy and I get fed up with all the usual hype with these releases and the subsequent criticism of features. I think this is a significant upgrade to the phone, just because it doesn't have a new funky look that sets it apart from anything on this planet ever(!) doesn't mean its not a good upgrade.
As for service I have only had excellent experiences from Apple (not their resellers - Magnum Mac anyone!) including from their call centre off shore. Most importantly they are well educated in their product and you get results rather than some muppet that is reading from a script and doesn't understand what they are saying (think Telecom XTRA support!).
Personally I wouldn't touch Android. I guess the malware in their store will get addressed but the reason people like it (loose publishing rules, high customizable) is what make it less reliable than iPhones. And did I mention battery life?

I'm getting one.
I have the 3GS, not super motivated to buy the 4S but I wouldn't hassle anyone for upgrading. There would have to be further upgrades that are relevant to my needs and likes before i'd considering further outlay on a new iPhone. Or any other smart phone for that matter as i don't currently see any other phone out there being significantly better the the iPhone 4S.
Truth be known if the iPhone I have now dies anywhere in the nearish future i'll be buying a $80 jobby from the local servo.
All honesty I'd wait for iPhone5 unless you super excitedly need a smartphone now & can't wait for 5 or your someone that needs the latest & greatest (tho thats an expensive lifestyle)

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
My view is that the iPhone is more of a consumer product and some of the others are more geared to business use. Far from being a microsoft fanboy but I miss my windows mobile device.

Lol yes, the apple feels "slicker" but I thought my old win device felt more seamless moving between desktop and mobile for things like email, calendar, document attachments etc. Plus it felt a lot quicker too.
One of my bug bears (what the f** does that mean???) with the iPhone is that there's no visible display to show missed calls or messages without having to physically prod it. On the plus side it has Plants vs Zombies.
