Hell no... way to fast for me! lol![]()
Imperfect action beats perfect inaction every time.
Just got this from a trademe user (who didn't leave a phone number)....
"Gday Gavin,I'd like to pay a deposit on this bike and come up in two weeks to collect it and pay the balance. Thanks"
I got back to HIM.... "I have almost commited to selling it to a collector the USA.
He has done everything BUT pay the deposit yet....
Give me a call right away if you are serious."
.....and I left my number...
Depending on him being serious and what he offers but it might stay in NZ after all?????
The plot thickens!!!
I will wait by the phone.![]()

Well that was just in time.
I got the guys first name and town from his trade me profile guessed his last name from his trademe name and googled them... and got his number! Amazing.... you can't HIDE FROM ME PEOPLE!
Just talked to him for half an hour and he has told me he is going to buy it.
Deposit paid Monday. And it gets to stay in NZ.
He is out bidding the largest Bimota collector in the world.... classic. Not by much but that and it staying here in NZ swayed me.
Wow he was SOOOOOOOO lucky that the American didn't take my advice and send me a deposit via paypal..... if he had it would have been a done deal. A bike is not "sold" and a deal is not done until money changes hands.
Neat ha?

Bike sold. Deposit paid. Bike stays in NZ.
The American is not super happy but he didn't send a deposit to hold the bike and someone else offered more without the hassle and cost of crating and sending overseas.... so he misses out. If he had paid even a small deposit I would have gone through with the deal. He wanted a very detailed list of all parts before he paid the deposit as quote "part of our contract" so I could see trouble on the horizon with the deal in general..... just a bid vibe.
I am happy that it seems to be going to a normal NZ motorcyclist who really wants it and not a collector which is cool.
Now.... what IS the bike I am buying? What would cause me to sell my DB1 project after 16 years? I consider it one of the greatest looking bikes in the world, a blue chip classic Italian that can only go up in value over time.....
Well it is Italian as we have established.... not a Laverda and not a 1098/1198....
I have a odd feeling that no one will guess it right.
