They will take the GST off and delivery to NZ is under 15 Euros. They also have a 10% off sale on at the moment!

Just remember to keep the import duties to under NZ$60.

So for clothing imports that is under NZ$260 (GST + 10% import tax) , Bags and rucksacks under NZ$320 (GST +5% import tax) and motorbike parts under NZ$400 (GST) - although that site doesn't do parts. Otherwise NZ customs will hit you with the tax fees which will be over NZ$ 100

I have just ordered a Kriega rucksack - cheapest place to get one when delivery included.

I've been looking for backpacks for cycling (pedal powered). I discovered this crowd:

I ended up buying the hydro12 version - just big enough for a pair of shorts, socks, underwear and a shirt - even a pair of jeans if needed, as well as gazillions of well placed pockets and niches for other bits and pieces. Oh, and a 3l hydro pack with the best designed mouth piece I have used yet.

Works ok on the cruiser as well, it sits up pretty high and can even get the hydration system into the mouth without it flapping about too much.

It has all sorts of funky well designed features.. including a rain coat, which survived a 1 hr ride in a monsoon last week, without letting rain or sweat in.. I love it..

Businesses pay gst on the volume goods they import, why should it be any different for private purchasers?

Because at some point the cost benefit analysis done by the gubblemunt has suggested that the revenue collected would be outweighed by the costs of collecting it. Its exactly the same rationale that led to the abolition of gift duty earlier this year.

I totally understand where you're coming from, but to put it bluntly, thats the answer: your government has decided that the break even point is revenue collection of $60 or so. And I've been caught both ways, lemmetellya.

Got a Fox V3 Carbon helmet off them in Oct, was a bit over $300 landed, waaay cheaper than off the shelf over here. However their freight process is very slow, delivered about 3 weeks after ordering. Got a Fox V1 lid for my GF from ebay.com at the same time (the V1 was around the same price as FC-Moto), was in my hands 4 days after hitting buy now.

Do you not claim the GST back on your GST return?, of course you do, then your customers pay the increased amount and you send that to the IRD don't you, so you pay no GST.

I'm aware. And I think the limit in Straya is $0 but don't quote me.

Having said that. from the gubblemunt's point of view, the revenue collected/cost to collect sum has to work still. And from the government's viewpoint, trying to police all the punters, all the parcels, all the time is a logistical nightmare.

And the one time I got caught (because of a ridiculous, retarded situation regarding Arai helmets) not only was it the GST (which as a consumer I paid twice, once in Straya, and once here, so you know, I'm doing my bit......) but the biosecurity levy and all that. Just for completeness I will point out that if I was part of my business, I would not have paid full retail price for the item in its country of origin, (thereby reducing the GST transacted, plus the other levies which are value based), and that would have been factored into my sale price on end sale.

One reason I'd not get into that sort of business. Hard to make money. Its hard enough these days doing what I do....

Even if I had paid GST, biosecurity levy and what ever else a small business pays, I'd still be saving $200 on what I could buy my helmet for over here.

Basically, if the products you sell can be easily ordered off a webiste, from anywhere in the world, and shipped to you at a reasonable price, you are already screwed and charging me GST won't change that.
