I would be tempted to wait Mr Fox. Lots of new (up-dated) cameras coming out so prices will plummet. Got to go HD & got to go with the lithium battery. AAA's are a pain in the butt. The Contours seem to be getting cheaper & cheaper too. For mounting, the Go Pro will film right way up, upside down if you know what I mean, so you can hang it off engine bars, indicators, the base of the radiator or fairing etc. I'm still trying to figure out how to attach it to my knee..

Do you want to borrow mine? To see if its worth it. You can suction to the tank and get a good view with a clear screen.

2:30 in i change to the tank. Can't see anything because the screen is so dark.

Those weren't sneakers you were wearing, were they? And that wasn't a compulsary stop at the rail crossing on the return trip was it?

Certainly nice clear video. At the onset, I kept trying to scroll up the picture to see further down the road.

I would love to get a video camera to mount on my bike but finding a decent one that fits in my budget could be fun. Mind you, I havent really started looking yet.

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

That would be great thanks silent - I'd just like to scope out mounting options really.

See post #39 above. You might want to think twice about posting a speedo reading of 250+ on a public forum. People have been prosecuted for such.

But thanks for the info re the camera. Looks OK. What sort of money are they costing?

Anybody know about the GoPro 960?

Apart from less resolution at the top end, why should I get the higher spec? Higher spec needs more storage and processing power when editing, yes? What exactly would you lose with the 960?

With my GoPro HD, I normally use R4 which is 960p @ 30fps. I don't think the 1080p mode adds much and the files are bigger and take longer to crunch

I use the gopro HD. 1080p certainly offers the greatest detail (only on 1080p screens of course) but at a narrower field of view vertically and horizontally. The narrower field of view can be positive if you want objects to appear closer. Even if you can't watch the vid in full 1080p now you've still 'future proofed' it for when you can.

A disadvantage to 1080p is at times a 'jello' effect where rapid up and down jolting causes horizontal parts of the image to overlap on itself slightly for split seconds. Looks like a 'wobble' in the picture and is more pronounced with som pov cameras than others. The gopro seems to hold up best in this department better than the others from what I've read.

960p is not wide screen format but shows the full vertical field of view. 720p at 60fps is the best mode for general use unless you specifically need more vertical room. The added fps cuts out any 'jello' affect (not generally noticeable outside 1080p anyway).

I've used the gopro extensively and I'd go with them again. That's not to say I haven't had niggles - google 'gopro pink video problem'. I've also had a gopro mount fitting break and the camera fall off the back of my bike. I probably did the mounting screw up so tight it cracked the mount. Where it was mounted saw big vibrations and jolts which would have worked away at it also. Fortunately a fellow biker following me saw it happen.
