WTB-first bike to learn + get license on?

hi, i'm looking at getting a bike to learn on plus get my learner license on.
was looking at a 150cc-250cc street legal bike
was just wondering will i be able to pick one up for around $1000-$1500? or what price will i be looking at? cheers.

A couple of options local too you,as with the price it depends on your total buget too have too get bike and gear if you need too.....

how much work are you happy too do yourself on a bike??

just got a Suzuki a100 goes good still looking for another.
seen that suzuki gn250 but it might be sold.
had the suzuki a100 around the house so fun! way better then the dirt bike.cant wait to get my learners.
