Best I can liken them to, is double glazing on a window....the end result is the inner layer is not as cold as the outer layer of your visor so your warm moist breath does not form condensation on the inside of your visor.

I have used a pinloc for a few years and am very happy with it.

Good description, even though the gap between the two layers is quite small they work incredibly well in cold damp conditions. Only thing I find is quite easy to scratch if not careful cleaning. I used the cheaper stick on type for a few years but the pinlock is much better.

Try it. And you will NEVER buy a helmet without one ever again. I believe they can be retrofitted into any full face helmet.

double glazing for helmet visors is exactly what it is. the layer of air between the visor and the insert absorbs/dilutes any minor temp changes between outside and inside allowing both lenses to remain clear..

I had fitted fog city brand adhesive inserts for many years and upon my return to riding recently decided I'd try the pinlock insert as no one stocked the fog city style any more.. awesome doesn't do the result justice, the insert sits on eccentric pins so it can be adjusted for the perfect fit and the safety of riding with a clear visor from the moment it's closed is somethng that can never be over rated.. I wear a neck sock at all times and fogging was a real problem with no insert in place..

I currently only have a pin lock in my Arai as my fog city inserts in my Shoeis are still perfect, but they are both a fantastic product. The pin lock packaging came with a spare set of pins to retro fit the insert onto any visor and full instructions on how to do so.. it also does state that the insert is not scratch resistant like the visor it will be attached to so care is to be exercised when cleaning.

one of the best products you can by in my opinion..

Basically they reduce helmet fogging substantially. If you do much riding in the cold then they are worth getting.

I fitted one at the start of this winter. I will never go without Pinlock again.

Incidentally, it's not just double glazing, because the insert material is actually moisture absoring as well. Since I have never heard of their effectiveness reducing over time, I assume they must also give up the absorbed moisture when the ambient air is relatively dry (e.g. over the summer..?)

Sounds like what i've been needing all winter

Good to know you can fit them to anything, but before going DIY can you get pinlock ready visors for HJC's?

I was wondering if the pinlocks are specifically designed to fit one or a few helmets visors or are they a universal thing as I have pinlock ready visor but I can't find anywhere that stocks them for my brand of helmet (LS2)
