Does 'pinlock ready' mean it's already got pins in place? Or markings where to stick pins?

There are some manufacturer specific inserts but I'd expect a universal one would probably be the right for your LS2 visor. Probably best to go to a store and see what fits the best

Contact lenses. Got them soon after my first ride in the rain. None of this shagging around getting them bent trying to get them on with a helmet on and then having rain drops on them blurring your vision. Worth serious consideration.

Most helmets that have built in provisions for pinlock visors require that manufacturers pinlock visor. You can't use a generic part.

Some helmets that were not designed for pinlock visors can be retrofitted with after market pinlocks, but they are ususally helmet specific.

If you take a look at visors you'll see there is a lot of variation between them.

Breath through your nose NOT mouth and have a wee crack in your visor...unless it has vents like mine...gosh I love my Arai!!!

I used to really struggle with fogging on visor and glasses, haven't even had to think about it since I got this helmet.

    Hope you sort it.

I think there is probably more to the anti-fogging effect than just the air gap. The material itself won't fog if you blow on it like your visor will.

The biggest downside to the pinlock is all the extra reflections you get when riding at night. I've used both stick in and genuine pinlock and they both develop an extra "ghost" set of all the lights you can see in front of you. The good thing is - you eventually get used to it.

I think the Shoei ones have a little silicone type bead around the inside to hold them off the visor. Most others like my Nolan, don't have this. Eventually they end up with little "scratch" like marks around the perimeter as if dust has got between them. However I suspect - and I've yet to prove it - that the "scratches" are in fact little bits of the pinlock which have become "stuck" to the visor when water gets between them. Chasio's suggestion that the pinlock actually absorbs water goes some way to explaining this...

The new Shoei helmets have the updated visors so you don't get the double image and the silicone bead is not in the eye line

Yeah, I meant that the silicone bead probably holds the pinlock material away from the visor and prevents the scratching/sticking thing from happening.

Are there "pinlock" inserts that don't come with a silicon bead around the edge?

My pinlock was fitted after market by a shop down here, XR1000. Great fit, works so well I'll never ride without them again. If has the silicone strip, and can confirm that shit gets in it and scratches the visor. Doesn't matter in practice because you couldn't see through the silicon anyway, but I'd be wary about doing it to any sort of visor that could wear and then flake.

I don't know whether a model specific visor that came equipped with a pinloc would solve that problem. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't for me. I'm pretty sure it's happening because I have removed it maybe half a dozen times in the time I've owned it. Thus I've never cleaned off any crap that's built up around the edge and it's worked into the silicone to make a happy little grinding paste. Smoked visor which doesn't flake so doesn't bother me.
