I thought it sounded like a waste of money, and not that important, and I heard about the issues of the top of the pinlock being in the eyeline.

Now I've just picked up an XR1100 and the pinlock is AWESOME. Got used to it by the time I got to the end of my street, never gets in my eyeline. And it absolutely will not fog up no matter how hard I try.

Infact it was only trying to perve at some chicks on the side of the road I noticed the edge of the visor was all fogged up (past the pinlock) - guess I was breathing pretty hard

How new? Got a Raid II (I think) last year with pinlock on the smoked visor. The bead isn't directly in line of sight but is a PITA at times. The worst thing I found is that it doesn't seal very well at the bottom of the visor, even with the adjusters done up full I can see a gap. Defeats the purpose on cold mornings so have started riding without it.

I don't know what visors are on the raid but the XR1000 and the xsprite were CX1-V, now on the new XR1100 and X-sprite 2 they use the CW-1.
The visors and pinlock are larger than on the old ones.

Never had any trouble with any of my pinlocks but it sounds like you haven't flattened out the visor enough when fitting it or its the wrong pinlock for the visor.

Just checked and yes, you have the old style helmet as the hew raids are called Qwest so you will have the CX1-V visor.

Bring on summer and the pinlock visors gets put away until next winter. Yes they are not perfect but far better than whatever is next best.
    Here for the ride.

Shoei Qwest also uses the CW-1 visor with the large pinlock insert. The bead is nowhere near my line of sight and the clarity is fine so I leave the pinlocks in all year round

This may have been asked before but are any of the anti fog wipe on liquids effective?

To some degree but not as good as the pinlock. I use that stuff on my glasses if it's a bit chilly. I like the warning that says "do not use on contact lenses", or eyeballs I assume

These and heated grips make a potentially miserable winter ride be fun. Highly reccomend both.
