    2012 BMW R1200GS "Water Cooled"

Looks like BMW may be making the the big leap into water cooling the boxer engine.
A complete redesign of the whole bike.
Inlet on top of Cylinder, Exhaust out the bottom. Drive shaft switched sides, And water cooling to boot.
Wonder what the new power out put will Be?

I may be wrong...but it looks less of a whale than its predecessors...I look forward to seeing some specs....

Maybe they need to keep up with the Italians...?

What... in falling apart? True tho, the Duc wins the horsepower stakes no contest... some 50% more power will do that...

I wonder if that's a real image tho, could just be an artists impression? Panniers wouldn't carry across from the old model, which may annoy some...

I want to know what the next GSA will be like

It's an artist impression. But based on the prototype. This picture is real.

hmm ... Wouldn't water cooling make it heavier and add something else to break on gravel roads..?

Anyway, I thought the proper way to cool a R1200GS was to throw it in a creek.

How did they go from something lithe, useful, durable and easy to work on to that behemoth? Whats the point? why cant we all get along.

Sounds like an F800GS. 3 of my work mates just covered nearly 3000km's in 6 days through the interior of Western Australia/South Australia loaded to the gunwales with camping gear/food/fuel etc. The F800GS was good on the soft sandy stuff, but the R1150GS and R1200GS he was travelling with had it all over him for comfort and speed on a coupla big road riding days they did on the way back.

    Horses for courses.

My GSA ain't no fashion accessory. She's a little scratched up from some off road I probably shouldn't have been on (but was fun looking back). I just want a bike that does everything, from some exploring through gravel, to long road days, and everything in between. For her size, 230kg dry weight is actually damn light I reckon.

Hah, you're assuming 20L of fuel. The GS Adventure is rated for 33L, but I've got about 35L in, so it's more like 260kg, add rider and luggage and you're heading towards 400kg. Gold Wings are far too heavy dry, plus they don't go off road too well, and their tanks are a bit smaller

Just for reference purposes, my year GSA (2006) was reported as 255kg ish wet (33L gas on board).
In comparison a 2008 ZX14 is just under 250kg fully wet.
The wet weight of a CB1300 is 270kg ish
A goldwing is approximately 410kg wet.

For what it is, the GSA is certainly not a porky bitch.

Said that to a few people. Physically, it's a huge bike, but it's actually not that heavy, when you consider physically smaller bikes weigh more, and the GSA comes with more kit etc.
