bt003rs vs power one

Hi there,

Now that i have 3inch front and 4inch rear fitted to my bike [gsxr400] i would like anybodys opinions on which would be the better tyre for my bike.
Has anyone tried both on smaller machines?.
i have had a set of bt003rs on before and were fine realy except the front was on a 2.5inch front which was a bit narrow for it.
I here the power ones are good too so opinions please as im leaning to ward the ones in the soft compound.

What size do i need o great one for those rims?.

I have been told with stock suspension the road type tyres would possibily work better than slicks - what is your opinion on that?.

Bollocks I say. Run a sc0 on the front your rim is the same size as all others so the 120 fronts will be sweet. They do a 160/60 rear which should be fine for that rim size or you could try using there supercorsa tyre that the 600 boys use but if it was me I would run slicks when ever I can.

Can i run a slick on front and supercorsa rear or put a 110-70 super on the front as the front would fit think but the biggest i can get on the rear rim is a 150-60 - any wider it would interfear with the chain i think.

The 120 and 160 size tyres will be a bit big for the 3" and 4" rims, but will work, just not optimally.
All of the 120 fronts are now really 'Superbike' size fronts and are really designed to run best on 3.5 - 3.75 wheels. 160 rear is really for 5 - 5.5".
Bridgestone do a 150 rear in the 003RS, not sure if they do a 110 front, I doubt it.
I have used a 160 003RS on my 250 GP bike on a 4.75 wheel. Tyre worked well for the short period I used it and I am not pushing lap record pace on the old girl (no need to make further comment Craig!!!!), but the 4.75 was really the minimum for the 160. Even going to a 4.5 turned the tyre in too much really.
The Bridgestone 160 slick should not really be used on a wheel smaller than 4.5" and even that is at a pinch.

So the 003RS would be good to use and the 150 rear will work OK on a 4" wheel. They are cheaper to buy than slicks but clearly will not last as long, but it all depends on what riding you are doing too.

The year Kal Morgan won the Pro Twins on his SV 650 he was using dunlop 190 rear tyres, as long as they do not rub it really dont matter what you use you just need to set the bike up to suit. I agree the 120 front may not work as good may make it turn like a zx10

Try the super corsa 110/70 SC1 front and 150/60 SC1 rears they should be pretty sweet. You can run different tyres front to back but try the super corrsa proddy tyres I think you will find them very good.

Its for my pre89 race bike.
Yes they do do a 003rs 110 front as thats what i had on the 2.5 rim in my original post but it was a bit narrow { rim fit 2.75-3.5 rec 3 inch} and the rear was a 150-60 which seemed to work well and profile looked good.
So i have choice.
bt003?.
Power one?.
Supercorser?.

I had BT003RS's on my ZX6R and they were shithouse, the front was okay for grip, but they were crap in the wet and the rear had fuck all grip. Have gone to supercorsa's and they're fantastic. The other great tyre for 400's is the Dunlop GPR@12 in 110 front and 150 rear
