Tim Gibbes is a bloody legend and has dedicated himself to NZ Motorcycling for decades. Now when he should probably be playing golf somewhere, he has built himself a small business that gives great service and probably makes only a minor profit compared to what a modern business plan would be based on. Trying to come up with different ways to undermine Tim's Timing system business doesn't do any New Zealander any credit at all. Maybe helping him to expand would be the better solution.

• Should he want to expand, then your point about wanting to assist expansion is valid. I can't see how clubs / tracks having their own transponders or loops would affect this?
• Regardless of his profit, loss, dedication or legendary status; Tim runs a business, not a charity. A business survives or fails on its own merits.
• We supposedly live in a free market economy, not some nepotistic old boys club. If a club wants to SAVE MONEY and buy their own transponder system then that's their business.
• Competition always delivers improvement and innovation.
• I'm sure a more than fair chunk of the current transponder system charges go into AMB's pocket. Nobody is deliberately trying to undermine Tim Gibbes. Aren't we allowed to discuss and investigate alternatives?
• Tim's business would continue to do just fine as his service and knowledge is good. He may even find some time for golf.

I agree with your comments entirely. I simply add that there may not be any need to reinvent the wheel using Videotape and a stopwatch, and that Tim doesn't drive an S Class Mercedes. Time your races with your fingers if you think it will save you a buck.

i think Round 3 is still a couple of weeks away? 11.th dec, if you go to mylaps and spend a bit of time with a pen and paper you can figure your overall standings... AMCC website should be updated very soon with the details i'd say...
