We need a real class with legitimate rules to replace it.
That's because BEARs in the NI is a pale imitation of what happens with it in the South

However, it's a stand alone meeting so it's different to the BEARs class being discussed here, which is mainly a Nth Island phenonoma because the BEARs down south are strong enough to run their own meetings.
But there is no doubt the landscape has changed with the BMW and Aprilla 4's being head and shoulders above the BEARs bikes of just a few years ago, so it's all unbalanced now and that balance needs to be addressed ..... something, it seems, that the Tri Nations organiser has attempted to do. It's pretty clear that Sloan did recognise that fact.
How the BEARs 'class' (as opposed to 'club') in these types of meetings will survive depends on how that balance gets addressed, but in the US the 'Twins' class seems to be the answer to that.
So there needs to be yet another class introduced?

I have no problem with the BEArs class, the people who are passionate about riding non Japanese bikes (but can't keep up with them) are of course as entitled to race an appropriate class. It is good for the non biking public to see the different (Read; LOUDER) bikes on the track.

I have been to the sound of thunder meeting, I raced there. The feilds were made up of 90% Ducati, including the two my team mate and I were riding. By what you are saying I can only assume you want a class in which lovers of the Ducati can run at the front. One exists now, it's called superbike, Just ask Carlos Checa.

How about you and your cronies organise a BEArs meeting up here and show us how it's done then?

A lot of the guys racing BEArs down there are in better financial position than most racers I know, tell them to pony up!

They did run a Northern Sound of Thunder at Pukekohe about 1988, I remember thinking what a bumpy shithole the track was, I don't think anything has really changed

    CHEAT!

You're getting too much track time, it's unfair on those who can't cross enter!

The whole situation has been piss poorly handled, and I for one think Sloan should enter the S1000 in BEArs as the rules clearly state he can. Unless the organiser can give a valid reason as to why it's only him that cannot.

In case you missed the several pages where this was discussed Il explain it for you.
He CAN enter, but not the SAME bike.
organisers have said that being a once day even thats being run, to let a few guys enter the same bike on the same track on the same day, into TWO different classes, and therefore give them double the setup and double the practice time, would be unfair on the others contesting the premier class.

IF however Sloan wanted to race an s-thou in bears, he could have one bike for bears, and one bike for superbike, thus negating any advantage he has in setting up his superbike, as no matter how identical you think two bikes are, they will always have some differences.

Personally, Id like to see sloan get lent a 2nd bimmer and ride both.

Yeah but the organisers should have said that before entries went in rather than changing the rules of the game part way through it

Premier class? I didn't realise he was trying to enter it in Buckets I thought he was just riding a poofy Superbike

Agree, yes there should have been more forethought/transparency with it, but fuck, these politics and rule changes are a fact of life with racing, you got to just accept the rules and do the best you can with the parameters you have.
Oh and choppa in buckets, perhaps you mised this thread?
