    GOAL!!!

Opening post said you weren't worried about it, but wanted to post to stir it up. You win Mr Frost.

I can't help but think they have gone about it the wrong way. A no cross entering rule should go accross the board I think. At Paeroa the only bikes that were allowed to cross enter at all were Bears bikes the year I raced there. But if I was not allowed to cross enter I'd have gone Bears only, if I had to choose one or the other I'd have peddled the 749 in Bears since I placed a couple spots higher there.

Abused how do you work that out?

If last years rules allowed it then it's not really a loophole

I can see why they want to do it but after entries are posted off isn't the time, the rules on this should have been in place to stop cross entry well before it got to the stage of ringing competitors and telling them they can't enter a particular class

I agree they should have sorted this prior to entries being posted. I guess it was an oversight. Trying to fix it by a gentlemans aggreement obviously is blowing up in their faces. Talk about bite the hand that feeds you?

But the rules aren't in place, and coulda/shoulda/woulda doesn't fix anything. It's still 2 months away, the organisers have identified that certain riders have an advantage and they've removed the advantage, job well done. What else can they do, cross their fingers and hope for the best? I can't see how they could have done much better, except to go for the 1 bike, 1 class approach.

If it was a job well done it would have been done before the entry forms were available

So next year Choppa should enter two different S1000R in the two different classes

And that is how we got around the same problem in 05 I think it was when they said you cant cross enter your 600 in to F1 so I turned up with 2 bikes haha and that fucked them. Brian Bernards team went one better and just swapped transponders so at least they rode the same bikes all day, I wish I thought of it

See now that changes things for me. I was leaning towards thinking the organisers had responded in a fairly timely manner....but to hear they've been through all this malarkey before is farkin' frustrating.

Shoulda known that dodgy bugger Craig Shirriffs would be mixed up in it somewhere!

might be a bit of a surprise but there's different organisers six years down the track...

What a goddamned joke Bears has become. A mate of mine who is a clubmans rider on a 675 Trumpy has spent a lot of coin on a BMW ss10000rrrrrsp thingy so he can ride F1 and Bears so he can cross enter and learn to ride fast quicker. If the rule is "determined by how fast someone is" imagine if Rossi turned up in NZ on holiday on a Ducati 1998sp Ducati and wanted to have a holiday "track day". In our races he would be told to fuck off because he is too fast? Bring on the fucking Labour party to say "we dont want anyone to beat us its all about trying". I normally add comments on this site to take the piss but this is FUCKING RIDICULOUS!
B.E.A.R.S - British European American.............. Last time I looked BMW was fucking German, you dont get much more European than that. If Sloan kicks arse in Bears good on him! He has a good bike but an Aprillia or Ducati is a match for it in the same hands. So why dont we all ban anything European and only let Harleys race - but the riders have to not ever raced before, have no hair, minimum dry bike weight 270kg, running boards compulsory.

I make no comment on the BMW situation and was blissfully unaware of it. But its a timely reminder that but for the considerable input of Suzuki NZ ( and most especially Tom Peck ) road racing in NZ would be a joke.

Its because of this fact that we felt (along with a host of feed back from people from last years series(competitors and non-competitors alike)) that he had an unfair advantage getting double the track time (and hence double the set up time) than his rivals have. We run one day meetings, and track time is very precious for everyone and to us it just seems fair that genuine title contenders all get the same time to sort their kit out, and not get bonus time just because their bike is built somewhere other than Japan. Theres a lot of people and businesses putting in a great deal of money to run at that pointy end of race classes, and the fairer we can make it for ALL the better. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and Choppa was sitting in his pit garage on race day watching rivals like Cole, Stroud, Shirriffs, Bugden etc roll down pit lane for another "Land of the Rising Sun" race class practice, he would feel a little hard done by. The ruling we are making on this class effects maybe 2 or 3 people I would think (John Ross to name another). Nowhere have we said that BMW S1000RR, Aprilia RSV4s, Ducati 1198Rs are no longer welcome in this class. And we welcome Choppa to ride Bears - but on another bike other than his F1. He has agreed to ride the HP2 in Bears, and thats great. Maybe he'll still win on that anyway - but at least he hasn't had extra track time to sort out his F1 bike to F1 title rivals.
So, we welcome entries from people riding S1000s, RSVs etc. And those people are welcome to enter whatever other class their bike might suit - be it F1, F2 - whatever. And as far as the comments go that this is Suzukis doing - it isn't!! In fact, you can thank them for Bears being included in the Tri Series. We weren't originally going to run them again, but Suzuki liked the idea of a "point of difference" class.
I still dont understand. Extra track time is an advantage I agree, but why punish someone because they are fast? FYI Dan Sauffer kicked arse and he hadnt even seen the track before, so maybe no practice is better?.
