Yeah same aye, if riders want to spend the extra on fancy bikes then they should be able to race in any elagable class... as for having an advantage due to extra track time, IMO that can also have down falls to, extra chance of crashing out, fatigue etc...
    cheers DD

Its because of this fact that we felt (along with a host of feed back from people from last years series(competitors and non-competitors alike)) that he had an unfair advantage getting double the track time (and hence double the set up time) than his rivals have. We run one day meetings, and track time is very precious for everyone and to us it just seems fair that genuine title contenders all get the same time to sort their kit out, and not get bonus time just because their bike is built somewhere other than Japan. Theres a lot of people and businesses putting in a great deal of money to run at that pointy end of race classes, and the fairer we can make it for ALL the better. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and Choppa was sitting in his pit garage on race day watching rivals like Cole, Stroud, Shirriffs, Bugden etc roll down pit lane for another "Land of the Rising Sun" race class practice, he would feel a little hard done by. The ruling we are making on this class effects maybe 2 or 3 people I would think (John Ross to name another). Nowhere have we said that BMW S1000RR, Aprilia RSV4s, Ducati 1198Rs are no longer welcome in this class. And we welcome Choppa to ride Bears - but on another bike other than his F1. He has agreed to ride the HP2 in Bears, and thats great. Maybe he'll still win on that anyway - but at least he hasn't had extra track time to sort out his F1 bike to F1 title rivals.
So, we welcome entries from people riding S1000s, RSVs etc. And those people are welcome to enter whatever other class their bike might suit - be it F1, F2 - whatever. And as far as the comments go that this is Suzukis doing - it isn't!! In fact, you can thank them for Bears being included in the Tri Series. We weren't originally going to run them again, but Suzuki liked the idea of a "point of difference" class.
Thanks for the clarity and I can see the reasoning behind the decision.and to a point agree.

To simplify the idea and maintain transparency a rule stating no cross entry from F1 could be the go rather than singling out a few.

Better have a target sewn into the back of your leathers CHOPPA
Oh an better get a spare for John Ross...........
I see the point ........... i think......... but as someone said same odds to fall off in BEARS and not even compete in F1......... as to stay on and gain set-up.

If im getting wasted by RSV4s and S1s ill be riding mine cause I was told they were excluded.

Is there a minimum lap time for those riding the bikes in question?

What about Dion, Joel Reed, Peter Tanner, John Woodley?? Is it ok for there competition to watch them get more practice? Or is it just because my competition is special??

The only fair way to do it is have 1 rider 1 bike 1 class.

Yep, why not, and no cross entering.
Then change the Bears name to B grade or Clubmans, something needs changing in the least. I bet that would fix it.

Not quite sure how slagging off the Tri Series and Suzuki by implication is the best way to encourage promotion of our
sport in NZ. It would seem that they merely wish to close a loophole which was abused last year to gain extra tracktime. Throwing toys all over KB is probably the perfect way to get whatever you want. The Tri Series is a class act, and deserves our support.

Pretty much agree with the whole 1 bike, 1 class sentiment.

I can't help thinking if poor Roger Cathro hadn't been trying to do in 4 laps what Rhys Holmes had 8 laps to do, if he might have not ended up munting bike and body in qualifying at the last Vic Club round. He was battling for the championship against guys getting twice as much practice/race time and it seems so unfair.

Yea,But this is Kiwibiker where you whinge about how hard it is to get decent backing AND THEN start bagging the one distributor that puts hundreds of thousands of dollars into the sport every year and have done so for as long as I can remember,Those sort of things come back to bite you when the likes of Stroudy and co retire and Suzuki NZ are looking for a replacement,Tom will be laughing his head off if he ever gets to hear about this muck raking.
