good point didnt think of the suspension "feeling" , one of the first things i think about why it isnt popular...is changing the front sprocket...

Yep, EVERYTHING has been done before..............

"the swingarm pivoted on the same axis as the drive-chain sprocket so that the single spring-damper unit – another innovation – was less affected by the power delivery."

The engine fights the suspension even with a concentric setup, through the chain tension force, its always trying to pull the rear wheel up. Its like holding a 10kg weight at arms length, plenty of force needed to keep it there, but more force required to lift it up quickly, the amount of 'lift' being how much the chain length changes due to shaft distances. Thats a textbook explanation anyway, how much effect those things have on the ride/control I have no idea.

In the 70s I would have bet big money that chain would not be the popular transmission medium now.........

Even then it was an archaic and energy sapping means of transmitting power to the rear wheel. Automobiles had long ago moved away from chain drive. (Imagine an FI with chain drive?) Yet it's still with us???

Can't be comparing cars to bikes mate. Chain or belt is by far still the best way to go for bikes as compared to shafts etc.

I hitchhike and train and use people skills to get in anywhere I want. People say "you came from where, just to watch GPs ??!!".
I love travelling that way, no bookings apart from flights and just wing it everyday.
    I LOVE this!
If I had enough money I would do this!!

I wish I could hitchhike but at the end of the day a young(ish) girl alone, it's just not safe. I wish it was but as much as I think I can look after myself there are just some situations I shouldnt put myself in.

Have you done the VIP thing? While I loved it I think I missed a lot of the atmosphere, there were heaps of people there and I didn't even realize. The paddock is quite isolated. I recommend it but not every time.

Next question what the hell is spies gonna do????

Status quo. Go good for two laps, then have it all turn to shit. For the rest of this season anyway. Blame the bike all ya want, he's obviously fuckin hard on the gear.

Would love to see him ride a gixxer in superbikes to be honest.

Boy , do I have a deal for you !! haha (don't tell pete though)

Yes I love doing it my way, first time I got off the train at Borge San lorenzo some Italians just happened to come out of their house as I passed and one recognised a Crosby T shirt I had on.
I ended up drinking their home made Grappa and their daughter rang around looking for Accom. (I didn't know where I was going or even cared) They even got dressed up and took me 15kms to a hotel that she had found. ( I have stayed their ever since ).
Many, many experiences like that. Lovely people.
One thing leads to another, I then met a (now) friend at that hotel who has been involved with GPs for 33 years ! Elf fuel. He slips me a pass that is 'gold' I can wander anywhere . True I think about the VIP thing, I always do that stuff on the first day and from then on just roam.
Yes, anyone can get caught out in some places like I did in Barcelona once. I think being an ex copper helps with my judgement of people and being street smart.
I have many tales of my experiences.

I reckon he should try the Honda coz it looks like Suzuki aren't coming to play for another year yet. Problem is though he is a big guy compared to the others so he probably doesn't fit the Honda so well as it is rather compact which suits Pedro and Casey. I remember a while back Nicky not being too happy when they went from the 990 to the 800 they downsized the bike a lot and he found it too small. The new 1000 looks much like the 800 did.

I'm hoping for his sake a new team would bring him new motivation.

p.s. Rach we'd love to see your photos of course!
    Cheers

He is hard on gear but once there's run of bad luck is over anything he'll touch will turn to gold I reckon.

He'd be slow(-ish neither Hopper nor Camier can get those pigs moving) and still be breaking shit.

    Wot a tease!

I think it was Tristan Jones, the single handed sailor, said something like,
"If in danger or in doubt, hoist your sails and fuck off out."

Hopper turned to shit as soon as he got off the one season he had on an American superbike and went to GP. Why do you think he would be able to make it go great.

Noikershner (spelt completely wrong but you might know who I mean) and Haslem made the gixxer go good. The german mofo was leading the championship when some fuckwit came through and shattered his leg.
