Yeah I've watched and seen dozens of clips and pictures. It's the most bizzare crash I think I've been unlucky enough to ever see. It backs up my long held belief, that when you're number is up, it's up. Poor Simoncelli could bin it at the same corner another 300 times and not be that unlucky ever again. Simply being dragged back into the racing line while your butt and hip are on the deck...with your head so low it's able to be run over, is seriously unlucky to put it mildly.

Not that uncommon, did it on an FXR 150 bucket last year, but no one behind me.

Watched Simoncelli take 2nd behind Stoner at Phillip Island last weekend, hard to believe he is gone.

Never subscribed to the "give up bikes or racing because someone has died" theory myself.

Looks like you nodded off whilst waiting for it to finish the straight and tipped over! I had the same problem when racing 883's!

You may not. But without wishing to sound rude, you haven't won 9 world titles and just now run over one of your very good friends head possibly (even though it was obviously not his fault) inflicting the fatal injuries he received.
But Rossi is obviously a very strong character and I do think he'll start next season as planned. I simply wouldn't be that surprised if he's had enough before too long.

Well I'm not going to either!!!!
If anything I reckon simoncelli was an inspiration to racers, he may have been loose times but you could never question his drive and desire!

I'm not sure what I would do if I was Rossi, though, I feel for him very much, having a part in the death of your friend. I hope he gets through ok and carries on

An accident like this almost took Frano Uncini and caused Wayne Gardner to quit when Gardner hit Uncini knocking his helmet off.
I think it was '86 or '85. Luckily Uncini survived.

I'm not religious, but this article I believe is very well written and offers comforting reminder to us when such tragedies happen. IMO, the last two paragraphs are spot on.

There is footage from a following bike showing what happened on youtube. I dont understand the "I wont watch it" response. I need to see how it all went so horribly wrong. Its a terrible tragedy .

yep, we are all different. I stil feel fuckin weird about it. I have seen photos etc from many different angles over several different forums, Im a guy that needs to know what, why when and how, before i can accept something, not everyone works that way.

Just got back from holiday after going to Sepang. After just watching recordered race footage, it did not show fans reaction to race cancellation. We were sitting opposite pit garages and when race was called off, fans started hurling bottles and rubbish on to track. We had no public annowncement for 45 mins, we new there had been a bad crash, but to be told nothing was frustrating. A sad end to a great day, as well as the worst traffic snarl up ever experienced, 3 1/2 hours to get back to KL.

Well there was nothing they could say really. They cant say sorry do to Marcos death we have cancelled the race now can they.
The footage clearly showed what was a tragic accident. Shame on the crowd I say
