VTR250 will only charge battery when idling

    Hi guys,

My VTR250 is currently not charging its battery. It will charge the battery when idling, but as soon as you give it any revs it stops charging. This is the opposite of what I would have expected to happen. Last week I blew a 30A fuse that was supplying power to igniton and headlights and it worked for another trip, but after that it wouldnt start.

If anyone ahs any ideas about what could be the cause I would greatly appreciate it, as my knowledge of motorcycle electical systems is somewhat wanting

    Cheers

There is a good chance the rectifier / regulator is poo'd. Do you have access to a multi meter? if so, do a quick search on here for that or and electrical problems thread and I'll bet a pound of racid weasel fat and a small dog on a string that all will be revealed...
