There's a standard K & N filter that'll fit in your airbox without mods. You'll get an improvement in performance, without the hassle. If ya wanna go for pods just for looks, sure....

Yeah, but pods are like 1/3 the cost of a K & N filter,
and im looking at losing unsprung weight, I have shredded about 1.3 kilo so far, with another 3.3ish about to come off as well,
    This is a fat bike.

Generally best just to leave the airbox, lots of volume and a good chance you'll fuck your carburretion. A lot of the cheaper pods have more flow at the cost of less filtration DNA pods seem to be quite good for the money

The airbox is considered unsprung weight? So what do ya call your wheels then?

remember they spent 100 000's of dollars on R&D for that airbox that you will fuck up.

If you wanna go awesome, like me, go open carbs. (no air filter/box/anything, keep your velocity stacks tho)

you will need to rejet and a free flowing exhaust (go up a size in extractor diameter) and you will need a dyno tune.

you will loose low down power maybe a bit of mid range. but you will gain the most up top possible.

Then again, you have a vtwin, which is all about the down low?

it worked mint on my cbr250, the noise was amazing. induction is louder than the exhaust, and the exhaust was a straight pipe.

course it will damage your engine.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

I have just removed my pod filters from the XS1100
they were good for the first 1k, but then the bike started running rough
because I had not thought to put a support bar to the back of the carbs, which were once supported by the air filter box housing mounts. The weight of the carbs and the filters caused them to "bounce"
Result was that my inlet manifolds cracked, and were sucking air.
    Now I need new manifolds,
I like the look, and the induction sound they create,
but the performance gain was not worth the effort.
The cost of replacing the inlet manifolds was not worth the effort
the loss of enjoyment cause I cant ride my bike till the new ones arrive, again, not worth the effort.
If you fit them, be sure you support them and the carbs with some sort of stabilizer bar,
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.

(Im on my phone as we still dont have internet at the new place so excuse poor typing)
I have gone over a few ideas and im thinking of having a y pipe made up and putting a car sized pod at the top with something to hold the carbs etc in place. Or once again ill get a second air box and open it up with the pods inside
