Old racing wets: yay or nay?

So... I found a set of wets for a good price. They are unused, however one of them has been sitting around for 6 years.

Given the high silica compound in wets would they have degraded as much as normal tyres?

The wets I have are ancient, they still work ok, better than road tyres on a wet track. Give 'em a go if you're not planning on running up front of sbk.

generally speaking 5 years & a tyre has slid down that slope of usability. Worse of course if it has been sitting in sunlight.

That said I just fitted an 03 slick & its come up ok, & last weekend used my 10 year old wets & was impressed how much better than they were than the slicks I'd just run on a wet track.
