    I think you'll find that most instances of engine misfires are actually piston slap caused by a worn bore due to excessive mileage.
    Certainly the lack of compression would mean that there was little chance of premature ignition.

    nah, it was more about the poor timing and missing the power stroke. Definitely not enough punch low down.
