    Speedo/Odometer noises - Scorpio

Sarah's mighty Scorpio is making one hell of a racket at times. Basic symptoms are:

    - Seems to need to have been running for a while. 20km seems to see it starting.

    - It will start abruptly from 50km/h, and continue until you drop below 25km/h, tho the noise will fade off when dropping from 50km/h down.

    - When making the noise, the speedometer seems stable, but the odometer gets a hell of a shimmy going on the numbers. These run completely smooth until the noise abruptly starts.

I've had a look inside, and the parts that should have grease, have grease. Nothing seems obviously loose. So just wondering if anyone has seen similar problems before I start the hunt into a replacement instrument cluster.

Have a look at the plastic gears driving the speedo/odo one of them most likely has "smeared" a bit
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

It didn't really have any signs of obvious wear on the plastic gear that I could see, however I'll look again later. If there is, is there any way to repair it, or is it a replacement job?
