Rules for the 2 hour

Can any one point me in the right direction for the rules for the 2 hour. Riders,fuel stops,flag marshals and anything else we may need to sort out.

Nope, but here are the ones, or rather cut down ones that I helped formulate for the '00 wgtn 2hr after having done 6 in Auckland so will be similar.

3. Entry Requirements -
Solos
A. The two Hour is open to F4 and F5 class solos only
B. There must be one bike and two riders per team, with no one member of the team riding more than 65 minutes.

ALL
The team must provide one lap scorer to be eligible to compete. The lap scorer will require pens/pencils, clipboard and a stopwatch with two hours capability.

Your team lapscorer may be a competitor in an alternative event.

4. Refuelling -
Refuelling will be performed within the pit area, using a 5 litre can and funnel. To refuel, the machine must be stationary with the engine stopped. Any fuel spillage must be cleaned up prior to the engine being started.

5. Pits
As a machine enters the pits the rider must dismount and push the bike with the engine killed. The machine can only be restarted on the dummy grid. Re-entry to the track will be controlled by the pit marshal/scrutineer.

6. Re-Examination -
If a machine crashes during the event, the rider is required to return to the pits, in an orderly manner, where their machine will be re-examined by the appointed official. Failure to be re-examined will result in the rider being black-flagged and removed from the circuit for re-examination.

I suggest you plan doing 30min sessions unless you are fit & extremely flexible. Wave the other guy in 2 laps before & wave back confirmation so you can get to grid. Strap an old digital to the bike. If you use inner tubes then replace them before the event. they get chaffed & very hot for a long time running at kart track low pressures & will likely chose then to hole.
oh & you won't need to refuel unless you have a tiny non std tank.

Yep pretty much what Dave has said, but

Must also provide a flag marshall per team as well so thats 4 people, 2 riders, lap scorer and a flag marshall,

Refueling area is by kart shed only usually, with engine switched off.

Taking the bike thru the pits, rider is to be dismounted and pushing. Engine may remain running.

Thats how it has been the last 3 years by my memory.

John will run thru all of the info you need on the day so dont worry too much.

Yeah its a real hoot, i used to go up every year with a bunch of like minded looneys. Not sure where it went but I had an air powered horn mounted for the race (must have not been fitted for scrutineering, so sorry) that I could use to get past errant back markers if they were a bit blocky. Had to use with gay abandon, no, wait the other one

, um restraint. Scares the crap out of people first couple of times.

We've done them in wgtn in the past, but they take a bit of organisation & an army of lap scorers. As we usually run with the karts we only run the enduro like we did a couple of months back & its only 30min as all the karts do. It was pretty shambolic lap scoring as not planned & only 2 unprepared munters doing the laps (ie me & Mark as we'd decided to not race in the pissn rain). Scratching numbers on the back of a takeaway bag with borrowed pens, starting a few laps in before we got seated in a decent viewing area & dealing with people falling off, remounting & breaking down.

I'm surprised we weren't lynched, but the only real system is to have lap counters for every team & master lap scorers sampling the top runners & auditing the timed they write down to see that they didn't do any 15second laps. Pretty simple but need the resource of brought in help with each team.

there has been some talk and testing of lap timmmer thingies but i'm not sure it was for the 2 hour

Is Wellington having a 2 hour this year? As fun as last year was I still like the idea of having the bike last for 2 hrs.

There was a small possibility of having the new system up and running for the 2hr, but he really wanted to test it for at least one meeting prior and that did not happen last meeting so I guess we wont be using it. If it is up and running (which I dont know if it is or not) I would not be surprised if a few bikes had a transponder attached for testing purposes.

So looks like I have shored up my 2Hr partner today. All I have to do is make sure that I can finish, without crashing

Fat chance.

Last time I spoke to him the possibility of testing the system at the NI round on the Saturday was mentioned. If they are here and it works then it might be a starter. On top of the lap scoring end of it there is the whole sign on end of things to get our collective heads around.

Another 2hr rule that I found out about from personal experience is make sure your appointed flag marshal doesn't stand at his track position with a chillybin full of beer and one in hand or you might be threatened with expulsion...
