    Some days are Diamonds

Lets face it life can be a friggin slog sometimes… Jeeze, gimmie a break you think as you slowly grind home on a Friday, late again after a shitty week at work on a broken down old train looking out at everyone else having fun. Then again – occasionally it all spins your way and short of winning Lotto I gotta say, I’m livin the dream, what a weekend….

Friday night we had a quick trip to the gym after dinner to work the legs and then watched some stuff we recorded on the MySky box over a couple of lemonades. Very relaxing.

Sat morning we had an early appt at the bank as things are looking up and they are getting worried that we don't owe them enough so they keep trying to shove money down our throats – meh! Weather was iffy so we went back to the gym and we worked on the upper body stuff. We totally caned ourselves and its good at our age to be able to do that. Once we regained the ability to move our arms I flicked over the lawns with the mower (the garden looks great in spring), talked shite to the neighbours and the daughter and her boys packed up and left for sleep over … Suddenly - we had the place to ourselves and we made full use of the facilities. Hot damn…..

We slept late Sunday just basking in the glow of a sound nights sleep and Vicki even graciously made be breakfast…

The child bride decided that she was off to the shops followed by some gardening. That left me to leap onto the mighty Trophy and with a mate, burble off to the ‘rapa to have a stirling lunch in Martinborough and take in the Carterton Sprints. Apart from the traffic and roadworks on the hill the ride home was in very light winds and genuine spring warmth. Even accounting for coffee I was home by four. Having noted a slight swell rolling in as we crested the hill at Paekakareki I was at the beach by 5:30 with the wee surf kayak (Mission Flow) I just purchased for a play boat. Ha ha – what a hoot. Hour and a half having my arse kicked in the surf was about all I needed to wear myself out. Fantastic.

Home – nice ham salad and a bottle of pear cider for dinner, finished up Vickis paperwork, she folded the washing, I did the dishes and bed. Slept like a log ….

    Perfect….

Brilliant! You really treasure those days eh? We had a great weekend with my wife's sister and hubby who we hadn't been able to catch up with for a long time.

Son is house-sitting for daughter/son-in-law while they are overseas so we're Darby and Joan for five weeks.

No - I think we should probably just communicate via KB from now on. Would make the office less noisy, eh!
