Welcome to Hotel California, don't feed the trolls and whatever you do, DO NOT open the door on the left!

You've crammed a lot into your life so far by the sounds of it and also by the sounds of it you've had a great time doing what you love to do! Goodonyer!

Every South African I've met has expressed their love for this country since they immigrated here. While SA has a lot of natural beauty, it's the freedom, peace and openness of NZ that they talk of along with the amazing variety of scenery here.

You'll gain a lot from the members on KB about what you can do and what to expect. Racing is well supported here and we have world-class riders to boast about.

Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!

    Thanks guys

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Must say knowing that the biking community is alive and vibrant makes me look forward to some good times.

Biking is such a fantastic lifestyle is it not?! What are the laws on lane-splitting in NZ? Or is it not allowed at all? Is there is big scooter community as well? We just finished our second season of scooter racing here.

This year I raced in the Suzuki SV650 Cup and I see you guys have a 650Twin cup there which should fit me pretty good I hope.

Last time I was there everything seemed quite affordable apart from tyres? What's the going rate on a decent set of Superbike tyres now?

Over here lane splitting is not illegal (it's a little bit dubious but most people report no problems).

I split everyday to and from work (~35km each way on the motorway) and overtake around 2 police cars each way and they don't seem to mind. I'm sure that if you were doing it at a stupid speed then you'd be in trouble, I generally find that going more than 40km/h faster than the surrounding trouble is the maximum you'd want to go anyway. We have some appalling car drivers over here so you've gotta be on the ball.

    Oh.. Corpork.

    It's going slowly and surely

So after I landed here in May this year (2011) and lived in Auckland for a while we decided to move house to Tirau. Yes that quite little place everybody drive through on the way to somewhere else.
I've also started up a action photography company www.supersnaps.co.nz and have been next to the track at Hampton Downs a few times now taking photos.

It's not quite riding but it's fun talking to the guys and generally getting to know some good Kiwi folk!
Everyone is friendly and help full and I've met some really great peeps since I've been here. The guys at California Superbike School has been fantastic and I look forward to every trip up North to the track when they running a school. The Hampton Downs Ride Days are also a blast and the guys seemed to be having huge fun at the track today.
For some odd reason corner 4 was the number "13" today with a few off's.......... and no I didn't shoot one of them. My back is always turned and walking somewhere else from the spot a crash is about to happen. That's just the way it is.

Well that was me checking back in.... maybe I'll post some photos in the Kiwi Rider Weekly comp?
