Bucket 2 hour this weekend - what do I need to race?

Hi Guys - I'm keen for the two hour. I've got a bucket, a set of leathers and a means to get there. I figure this is as good a time as any to see how well it rides!

Only problem is the websites are a bit sparse on information...

What do I need to bring? Tools, fuel, helmet gloves boots leathers.... anything else? How much cash considering no MNZ or AMCC affiliation? Bike is set up ASFAIK but is there anything I NEED to check?

    Cheers

    Sigh

    But to answer your question

Boots, helmet and leathers is a good start. Tools and spear parts can be useful but as long as you font crash, and turn up with a fully prepped bike not a must (tui moment)

Other must have items fro the 2 hour is a partner (as it is a 2 man event), a time keeper, and a flag marshal. Not sure on the day licence costs $40 rings a bell but not sure.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Wild arse guess woul be $15 each for day licenses and $30 or $40 each to ride depending on if you plan doing both days or not. If you really want to know phone JC and ask him. Pretty sure his contact details are on the AMCC website.

It's a two man? LOL I had no idea!

so I've got til saturday to find a rider, lap scorer and marshall? How many bikes are typically racing? Seems like we'll have plenty of marshalls....

Righto, two man is on Sunday. Saturday is the North Island series final round for the year.

Sunday there will also be a B-grade endurance race, for those of us not insane enough to be out on the track with the big boys. It'll only be about 30-35 minutes, as we're talking about 40 laps. (maths isn't my strong point, so think it'll be less than that timewise lol). Then again, JC said somewhere that it'll depend on how long I want it (dunno about that, seems wierd to me).

Race licences will be required both days, but pretty sure day licences will be available for both.

As to how many marshalls, there's 5 flag points, but it's up to each team to provide a marshall, as if everyone leaves it for someone else, we won't be running the race or having lapscoring. There should also be enough spares so that they can help out with picking bikes/riders up etc.

I don't ride the two hour, so don't give a damn about lap scoring or whether the race runs, but those riding it should.

I enjoyed my "races" at Kaitoke, where the guys doing the lapscoring walked off as we started our riding. That cracked me up, and was a reflection of how I really care about where I come in any race. Ooops, no wonder I'm at the back, I really ride for fun.

Not sure if Pumba mentioned back protectors, but they're also required.

Right, I think I'll give this JC chap a ring tomorrow then. The B race sounds a bit more appropriate tbh... wont need a lap scorer or second rider?

    shit.

not because I can't get one, but because I'm not sure there's going to be enough room in my leathers for one.... Codura?

Nope sorry cordura is out. Two piece zip or one piece leathers. Back protector is required. Last year the two hour had 28 entries and the B grade 40 lapper 11. Can get quite busy on track.

    Red face

B-grade endurance race is definitely one person. Lap-scoring is done by the wonderful Wendy, Camilla, Mary and whoever else can be conned into helping out.

Lapscoring for the two hour is writing down the time for each lap for each rider,so impossible to do in the usual manner. It's alsomarking when the rider changes. Sorry for the spacing, this laptop has decided the space bar doesn't need to work all the time, and I'm getting sick of backspacing to put one in.

Whichever you decide to do, it'sfun. Saturday will be similar format to previousrounds, at a guess, 10, 20, 30 lap races, practice and whatever else.

Do phone John Connor (in case you hadn't realised who JC is), as he's in charge, and we all follow what he tells us (or we decide to never goback, it's entirely up to us). He's a top guy, and it's thanks tohim and Wendy that we get to ride our buckets in Auckland.

It is a lotof fun, I'm just not a competitive person (until I can see that I'm able tolap Henk, in which case,I'll actually get motivated to kick his arse, but fair's fair, he always beats me, so I do have to gloat on that one - for another year and 11-1/2 months).

Righto, anyone any good at fixing laptop keyboards - need the space bar fixed, plus theup and down arrows put back on, or just need to go back tothe desktop).

Oh, and you can't steal last place, that's mine, unless I can finally get Alistair (chased him for the whole race last year, and was stoked I kept upwith him lol).

He so does not share toys with me. Actually, to be fair, he does let me use the lawnmower and weedeater, I'm just not too happy to use the chainsaw, so I don't ask to share that (our good one got nicked with our van years ago, and this one is dodgy, so I rather saw trees by hand). See, he really is a caring husband (arsehole hahaha)
