Unfortunately racing at the top level as a privateer and living within your means are two completely different things.

I agree with Ivan, maybe its a big ask to do it all

Sounds like the chance of a lifetime buddy. Make it happen. Can I suggest starting a raffle for your race bike. You may need to get a permit for such a costly item but at $25 to $50 a ticket I know I would buy a couple and I'm sure plenty of others would too. I have also seen racers list themselves on Trademe as an Auction to help a Kiwi kick arse. That might be worth a shot. I wouldn't mind a ticket to win your trailer either now I think about it. Selling stickers for gold coin donations works for Ronald Mcdonald House. You could get a friendly printer to bust you out some Biggles Supporter Bumper stickers. Go for it fella!

Problem is my budget (and my sponsors budget) is over 100% as it is competing here in the New Zealand Tri-Series and National Championship. Sooooo.... I am putting it out there for suggestions on who might be in a financial position to assist in making this happen. Any ideas or contributions greatly received!

Its not often an opportunity like this comes about for an old fella like me so I would like to give it a good nudge at trying to raise the funds required to compete. I'm picking on initial thoughts, the cost will be approximately between $6k - $8k to make it happen.

    post away....

It will only be "spare" after my #1 bike has finished being rebuilt...then my "spare" is for sale again (to repay the debt on it). Right now its what I'm racing to get some track time prior to tri series and Nats. I find it amusing that so many people on KB think everything that has been achieved at Biggles Racing has been easy going and handed to me on a platter (I'm not specifically referring to you here shaun). If you want something bad enough you commit to it. I can assure you we are very committed in our team!

As for re mortgage the house....been there done that. Like my op says, I like my sponsor are already over 100% committed to NZ racing. This is another opportunity being considered and hence this thread.

Now to get back to bed and try and get some more sleep!

Fuck me, this is a hobby and you have already maxxed out two credit cards and leveraged your mortgage?

Steve had some good points. If you had set some goals and a budget for this year and another opportunity has come up - then you need to review what is more important to you long term - a fantastic opportunity in Germany, or the tri series and nationals here. Plan then execute....

Maybe some people would gladly pay for a one way trip to Germany?

Sorry Marcus, but if you were actually capable of winning races in New Zealand you may have a chance to ask for support to do this one of NON event apart from the buzz of it for your self

I think you best go back to the drawing board mate and re determine your Goals with racing

Is it to be a winner or is it to have fun as this is what you love

Also sorry to say, but if you are in such heavy debt with Just Racing in NZ, some thing has been terribly miss managed Financually mate
