So. How do I find out what type of RAM this puter uses - short of yanking the panel off and having a looksee? System just tells me how much is in there (not enough it seems), not what type...
Any ideas?

Its just plain old DDR RAM. Needs be I increase the current 2GB if I want to play Crysis 2 with any degree of ease...

Check on the net what the maximum ram is your pc will allow, then buy faster ram to the maximum capacity, eg 2 slots / max 4 gig = 2 x 2 gig 1600mhz.
Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow arent just the 4 cycles of an engine
It plays OK as long as I make sure the cache is empty first. Some heavy duty scenes get a little jerky but.
Yes, it's an old puter. But it pretty much belongs to the business now even though it did start out as my personal machine. I have a better one at home but play games here at work when the going is slow. Since this puter will stay here when I move on I just make the best of it. Not spending more money on this business anyway - it has already sucked up too much of my personal value...
Worst comes to worst, I'll move the game home.

I had a lot of fun playing Crysis 2. Great game.

The game can be quite frustrating at times, I too got stuck for quite a while. It's still not as bad as the original Crysis where I got stuck for over an hour then gave up.
Good news is RAM is cheap. DDR3 is the way to go so it means a new motherboard. But they are cheap as well. And since your getting a new motherboard you might as well get a new CPU (because it will probably be a different socket) and then you will probably need a new Graphics Card as the mobo will take PCI-E and not AGP. And hey look there goes $500!
And then you realise your HDD is fkn slow. And those have double in price since the flooding in Thailand.
Now you have a sweet PC that can run Crysis 2 really well. You just can't see it through that shitty monitor.
Oh look there goes 2 grand just to play a game
Computers suck! just kidding they are awesome

I think the ZX Spectrum has kind of done its dash now. Upgrade time?
I'm guessing you got a bit excited when you saw that video I posted of how to install RAM.
