We are also well aware there are terrible fork seals out there, however, just because Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki or Yamaha charge $40 - $50 for a pair of oil seals does not mean they are better than aftermarket seals like ours. In fact we will guarantee our seals will outlast any OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer's) seal (full exchange or refund if they dont) and over the past 25 years we have gone from selling standard seals to most of our seals now being Triple lipped/double sprung seals. All of our Dust seals are NOK OEM. We have been selling fork oil seals and other products worldwide for over 25 years, we could (as many people do) add on 75% markup for our Kiwi Customers (just because you are in New Zealand) but don't. We sell these seals for the same price as we sell them in the UK, Europe, and USA. Yes compared to what you would pay walking into your local Suzuki dealer they are cheaper, but as for the quality they are equal or better to OEM. Most bikers know that the major bike Manufacturers have been ripping customers for too long.
As for your last sentence there is some truth but also untruth, its very easy to make emotive and highly oversimplistic statements that will resonate with many. Companies such as yours selling many low value parts into ''open slather'' economies such as NZ are enjoying that its an unlevel playing field. You are enjoying the fact that successive Governments have dismally failed to collect a clearance charge and gst ( consumption tax ) on EVERYTHING that comes across the border. If on the other hand you go and buy such products from a diminishing number of retailers with proper premises in this country you are paying those clearance and gst charges. And you may not be ripped off, but the important point here is that our own Kiwi businesses employ Kiwis and return their profits back into the local economy. And to not put too fine a point on it consumption tax helps to fund Government services. And plenty of people constantly grizzle that there is not enough Government funding. You cannot have it both ways. I am ledto believe that in the UK a far higher percentage of privately imported goods are charged VAT at the border.
Im proud that the union jack is part of our national flag ( and it should stay that way ) but everytime I go through immigration into your country I and my countrymen get treated like lepers in alien lanes, while we evidence Germans etc fast tracked through the European community lanes. Personally I find that insulting when my own personal family history includes 2 descendants that fought for the Empire. My grandfather was a sniper who survived both Gallipolli and the Somme whilst my father was seconded to the RAF. So in your case the mother country continues to take and help lay waste to NZ businesses
But what do many people care???
