I couldn't attend the funeral yesterday but I did have a quiet moment thinking of him. Such a lovely send off for him.

My turn to correct you now sweetie! The cop didn't pull over the "cager", the cager (a van in fact) was already parked there. He got in his "cage" and attempted to leave the house he was visiting but couldn't because the bikes were obviously arriving en masse. The cop asked the guy to wait until it was clear and then waved him out. The cop didn't realise the situation, the cops were asked by the owners of Street and Sport to assist with traffic control. Since both bike cops and their Sergeant are all avid bikers it was their pleasure to stop traffic. Anyway, the driver of the "cage" was quite happy to wait and the people in the house were quite sad about the death of our friend, since they knew him. So the cop didn't give him a lecture at all. Just like the same cop was having a chat to one of the bikers he happens to know. All of a sudden a drunken scumbag, clutching a "woody" or similar at 1.30 in the arvo, staggers up to the cop and tell him to "leave the guy alone".
Really? This is the time and place for nit-picking each other?

This is a special thank you to everyone that was on Joe's last ride. I knew he had a lot of great friends, but had no idea that there were so many of you. You all made that day so much easier for me, as bikes were his life and who he was. It was an amazing sight and an awesome send off. One he would be proud of, so thank you. Joe was my world and he is going to be missed more than I could put into words or even try. I hold great respect for his boss and workmates who have been there every step with me, helping to organise the ride and with so much more - Street and Sport (Triumph). Kim.
I dont think you need to thank any of us Kim, its how the motorcycle world works, its respect something rarely found these days.
I was holding my 2yr old as Joe was carried to the hearse, you were holding yours, I have never felt what I did at that point in time, if only it was possible for us to help. As people said there byes to Joe in the hearse I to walked up with my boy Toren, he has only just started talking clearish and to my amazement he said "bye Joe" as clear as a clear thing. Look after ya self girl and big hugs for the girls.
cheers DD

Hi Kim, welcome aboard. It was an amazing service, like I said to you on the day I can not think of anyone else in the ChCh scene who would have so many turn up to their send off. You can be proud of Joe, he is a great friend and mentor to many.
Hi Kim. It was a priviledge to be part of Joe's last ride. The turnout that day was an apt demonstration of the high regard in which myself and so many others in the Christchurch biking community held him.
