Blowing main fuse?

hello to everyone out there .was woundering it any one could help me out just had my 1996 speed triple dropped back off to me
from the uk. but now it blows the main fuse when i turn it on

i think its wet wiring ? what would be the best way to sort this out ?????????

Put in a bigger amp fuse and watch to see where the smoke comes from Pulling your leg, probably going to be a slow process of tracing wires, check for any obvious signs of shorting first would be my guess, maybe a wire or something rubbing or split. Good luck.

The wiring shouldn't be able to get that wet that it blows fuses - otherwise one day you'll be out riding, it'll rain, and you get stranded.

I would start by looking at all the wiring you can see. Look for anything missing insulation that might be shorting to the frame. Look for any wiring that may be crimped under something (as in, something was done up and "squashed" the wiring).

If that doesn't work, I would try isolating systems. Try unplugging things like the lights from the wiring loom. And I'm guessing you can probably disconnect the battery, and use a multimeter across the battery leads and watch the resistance change when the short occurs (save a lot of fuses).

You say "it blows the main fuse when I turn it on". Does it blow the fuse when in the ACC position (headlight on, etc), or does it blow the fuse when you hit the starter button?

Was the battery removed for shipping? Did they replace it correctly?

Check around any tiedown points for crushed wiring.

I'd actually think about what was done to put the bike together when it was taken out of the crate. If nothing then fairynuff I'm wrong. But if some assembily work was done then thats where I'd start looking

I also am having massive trouble with my fuse.

I am pretty sure there is a dead short somewhere. Bike was running fine and I went around a corner and bike went dead. Pulled over checked the fuse and it was gone.

I managed to get another fuse and I put it in and it blew before I even turned the bike on. I will look for the obvious stuff but is there anything I should look for in particular?

I would be checking the wiring around the headstock and bars somewhere,if it happened while cornering.

Just took the seat and petrol tank off couldn't see any thing that could cause a short. The wiring around the Headstock and bars are all wrapped up... Not too sure how to unwrap them.

Is the wiring loom pulling tight when you turn the bars? It may of pulled something loose.

Doh, It was the regulator rectifier. I pulled out the wrong thing... haha
