    Award BIOS downloads/updates

Does anyone know where I can download Award BIOS updates without having to pay $30US for the privilege?

The vendor site points to a pay service that requires an annual $30US membership fee to access. An upgrade is available for my Socket AM to board to accept Socket AM+ CPU's and I want to upgrade the CPU as my dual core 3ghz is struggling with the HD video editing I'm doing.

Think I've got it sorted, I was trying to get one off Award instead of Gigabyte.

Absolutely visit your motherboard manufacturers website, then search for your motherboard (the model should be stamped on the board itself), and if multiple revisions, try to match up against the reference pictures.

BIOS and drivers should be available, and no charge. May also have CPU and Memory compatibility lists to assist.

I got the BIOS updated to the latest version and have purchased a new CPU but haven't got it installed yet. I'm going to a quad core 3.2ghz so that should help.

With the upgraded BIOS I could have gone to a 6 core but the wallet wouldn't allow it, but it means I've room to go up later if and when I need to and can afford to.
