    SK1PY 1980 CB750F gets a makeover

Well saturday dawned bright and beautiful and it was with mixed feelings of excitement and trepidation that I rode SK1PY down the gravel drive and headed for Hawera

First lesson of the day, never leave town without gassing up first time I did and 40minutes of sitting in the sunshine waiting for rescue by Nathan in the white rollerskate
Maybe SK1PY was feeling a little of my resistance to the trip but once the fuel was sorted that evaporated with the last of the autumn mist, we were off.

A pootle turned into a blatt for the old bike and we made Hawera by 09:50.
SK1PY arrived in NZ 18months ago with only 6,500 miles on the clock and as I left her for her assessment we had just passed the 18,000 mark.

12,000 miles of exploring the north island and getting me to work and coffee in style, if not on time. I will miss having her in the garage but giving her the touch up she desires will be worth it. Excelling on the gravel and dropping brakes and foot pegs it hasn't been without it's moments.

This won't be a rapidly updated thread but as the plan is a joint effort between the jap enthusiast and myself to make the girl look gorgeous again I hope it will be interesting for old honda lovers.

Hoping it will largely be surface cosmetics but will let you know once she has had a full inspection

Picked up the retuned and serviced 955i Triumph Daytona to ride back so certainly a fun day and a ride of two parts

Yep I have the best of both worlds

Finally got myself into gear and stripped everything off SK1PY down to the frame.
In recap - she only made 1200 of the 1600km in the 2010 GC and we got her home and took off the carbs..... that started me on a mission to get the job done.
I was delayed a few months (well a year) by visting family, riding the TT2000 with my best mate Horse and trying to manage two house and a family and other animals lol

If anybody is considering removing the engine from the frame of a CB750F, do read the manual if you have it. Leaving the manual open on the car as you struggle to wriggle the engine out of a hole that is two small isn't much use
Once we removed the piece of frame on the LH side designed for the job it was unsurprisingly easier.

I took heaps of photos as the strip down happened in the vain hope that I will remember how she goes back together with no important pieces left out.

The frame is with A1 sandblasters and on to Elite powdercoaters as we speak. Watch this space for the fun of trying to get it all back in without scratching the paint job :-)

btw Bones I still have your rear brake , let me know if you need it as now would be the time lol
