$500??? Will that be enough to cover costs associated with this nonsense? I highly doubt it will. If it does her lawyer must be incredibly cheap. The offender is going to be given, free of charge, counseling, treatment and training. If you are reading this and you pay taxes, then YOU are going to be paying for that and it is going to cost a hell of a lot more than $500.

What does the victim get? An apology and $500 (that will probably not even be enough to cover costs)

If you ask me the lying bitch should be sentenced to pay legal costs plus about $50.000 in reparation. Community work is fine but I think the best therapy would be a few weeks in jail. That would teach her a lesson and save the tax payer money.

Is anyone else outraged by this or is everyone happy with this so called justice system. I honestly can't see the justice or the system.

The 'final name suppression' removed all justice from the equation. Why shouldn't she have to deal with the consequences of her actions even if part of the consequences are that her own darling grows to hate her?
I don't see why you can't see the system, a system it certainly is, but it is a legal system. I know it is called the ministry of justice but it is about law. Read 1984 and learn double speak.

Either you kid is smart, or dumb as pigs nuts. If you honestly want to put effort into improving their education - teach them or get them a tutor.

Some of my cousins went to those fancy pants schools. They are now all farmers (which is what their folks did). I went to the "local". And have a substantial careers and academic achievements.

This whole case, shows how stupid parents can be. It does not require anymore punishment. The daughter will punish the mother a lot more as time continues.......being the child of a convict is not what I call "steps in the right direction".

Trouble is who knows she is the child of a convict? The judge suppressed the mother's name. Aren't we lucky we pay these judges so well to be so intelligent. I mean it is not like the schools and other mother would know who she was or they can be trusted to keep it secret, right?

Mellissa May Anderson, of State Highway 16, Helensville, appeared before Community Magistrate Dianne Hale at the Waitakere District Court today charged with assault.

She was remanded until December 20 for further hearing.

Mrs Hale denied name suppression and allowed filming in court "in the interests of open justice."

The mother that was the bully gets name suppression, the mother that tries to protect her child gets filmed in court. Protect the bullies that's the way to stop bullying.

Unfortunately for this poor women she decided to act out and go slap the bullies.....in front of the cops.

Bullies have to be dealt with discretely. an "eye for an eye" only works if the law is unaware of it.

WTF have varsities got to do with it. Part of the scheme is to pay the teachers according to how well they grade. Easier to get good grading at schools where the kids are easier to teach. Well graded schools get the good teachers cause they can pay more. Given the self interested groups it will be these 'exclusive' schools that get the loins share of the money. Funny how every time a study is done on it the exclusive schools come out no better if not worse that the normal schools, of course these studies quickly get shouted down be the rich and powerful that have wasted their money on the exclusive schools.

Police found a loaded sawn-off shotgun hidden in a cupboard and ammunition for a 22. calibre rife, 8mm pistol and shotgun rounds. When they searched the garage they found a stolen motorbike and the explosive device.

I don't condone cheating to get the kids into fancy schools. Given the choice I sent them to 'normal' schools rather than the fancy ones, the education was as good if not better, they are better people but they did miss out on some the 'school tie' privilege however as none of them stayed in that town that too was a non-issue. One of mine 'failed' school cause they were too smart for the teachers and their own good, still is, hate to think how badly that one would have done at one of the fancy schools.
