I wish someone would do that to the two beagle testing facilities here in NZ. One in Himitangi and one in Hawkes Bay. Be careful if you are looking at getting a beagle off Trademe. It is likely to be one from these places with many, many health issues.

Bullshit. It's more likely to be a reject from MAF's detector dog programme.

I'd rather spend time with most dogs than most human's so I don't really see the problem.

Not Bullshit. Do you work there?

I found information on a breeders website warning of these people selling beagles:

There are currently 2 research kennels in New Zealand that are using beagles as research animals in the lab to test new products on. One Kennel is in Himitangi (Palmerston North) The other is in the Hawkes Bay. These kennels are selling beagle puppies to the public via Trade Me and use various and changing usernames. These puppies DO NOT have NZKC papers and grow to be big cross bred looking beagles! Some have also have behavioural problems and health problems that are known to cause huge vet bills and undue grief and worry on new owners. I have heard that a couple of these puppies have needed to be put to sleep because their problems have been so severe"

    Beagle buyers beware
