Can you tell me how this works? Is the chip not suited for the bike made? I could do with a spare for my VFR800.
Sorry just saw the link that explains all. My bad.
No worries. I added a spare key to my '05 CBR1000RR using this method. Works well.
I thought others might appreciate the instructions so started selling the extra keys I had. Had a couple of people try to add keys to bikes that were crashed/stolen/not running and then try to blame me for their problems. It's not worth the trouble for me, so I'm going to sell the last few I have at $1 reserve to get rid of them.
You can find this information on the net fairly easily (including how to make the "tool" you need).
The main cost is the key with transponder chip. I bought a bunch of aftermarket ones for about $35 each (will cost about $55 from Honda).
The "tool" requires about $7 worth of electrical bits, a soldering iron and 10 minutes to put together.
New auction listed (see first post for link).
