    Biggles in Germany!

Ok...so I have been given this opportunity to race in the German Hokenheim 1000km endurance race in April 2012. I have been invited to be one of two racers to race a BMW S1000RR at this event. I need to be able to present myself in Germany to compete.

Problem is my budget (and my sponsors budget) is over 100% as it is competing here in the New Zealand Tri-Series and National Championship. Sooooo.... I am putting it out there for suggestions on who might be in a financial position to assist in making this happen. Any ideas or contributions greatly received!

Its not often an opportunity like this comes about for an old fella like me so I would like to give it a good nudge at trying to raise the funds required to compete. I'm picking on initial thoughts, the cost will be approximately between $6k - $8k to make it happen.

    post away....

I know but the irony of your title is just too good to miss, sorry. I suppose most who know the character Biggles would be forgiven for thinking it was originally British rather than German.

Wish you all the best with raising the dosh. Sorry I can't be helpful with that.

Ahem....I am currently in excess of my 100% spend! Both these avenues are exhausted my friend! I'll be selling my spare racebike following the Nationals so that would help...although the $$ should go to repaying some debts! ha!

Look at that Biggles fly around those German Tracks

Have you thought about an approach to the European Multi-nationals that operate in NZ, like Siemens. Alcatel-Lucent etc. They might be interested in the pan Europe NZ angle and do sponsor sports.

Yeah I have approached most corporates prior to this opportunity but to be honest most need to justify specific returns for $$$ up front. Hard to do that with a corporate in the motorcycling community as it stands today. Not impossible, just difficult. We are working on this avenue.

I think he said his budget and that of his sponsor is already over 100%. Maybe he could go rob a bank like that guy from the Toyota series did here a few years back.

    Hi Marcus.
I think I am with Ivan on this one. I know, heaven forbid.......

Unfortunately it is probably too late to get monies back etc on stuff already bought, but not doing the Tri-Series would at least save money.
Not doing Nats, at least Sth Is, is another story, but would probably leave you with that sort of budget.
Ultimately when a plan and budget are set and then another opportunity comes along most people need to drop something to take up the new thing rather than be able to do all of them.
    Cheers

That's all fine and good IF you didn't already have commitments to both those series and people supporting you for them. I will always look after my existing sponsors before any other event / championship is considered. Sponsors are hard to come by as it stands and if you go reneging on current commitments for some personal gain it tends to leave a bad taste in a sponsors mouth!

I will be doing the Tri-Series and the National championship as I have committed to many sponsors to do so.

Good idea tho and was worth mentioning.
