Your to quick, I edited my last post.
I would love to go but unless whole group goes I would vote no as anybody going through there would have to go through at the speed of light as it is extremely windy and technical so add time on for that as well as the extra distance and fact no one knows the road. Make extremely hard for a re-group unless other groups were left waiting for ages.
Also I asked another question about Pirongia to Otorohonga via Te Awamutu instead of direct down was there a reason for that?
The reason behind that going that way was because, its not that far to Te kuiti (our lunch stop) from Pirongia our first coffee stop...which reminds me, I better see where exactly that coffee house is...
Pirongia/Te Kuiti = 46kms
Pirongia/Te Awamutu/Tekuiti = 60kms and Scott will lead the way through that part.
EDIT: ...Found it...its on the main road...
We stopped in at the Bike Shed the other day, it does not open till 11am...stink, but whats the hurry eh?
Actually a question for everybody - If you can please do some research on your bike if you don't know the answer to the below questions.
How many k's do you get to a tank of gas on average before your light comes on or you need to flick to reserve?
How many litres of fuel does your tank hold and how much of that is the reserve? i.e My tank on the predator is 17 litres of which the last 4 litres is reserve.
For your reference if your reserve light comes on you do not need to fuel up instantly as you will not run out of gas on majority of bikes for at least 50-60kilometres (that is kilometres not metres)
Please take the time to calculate this information as not necessarily on this trip but on any decent trip you do it can dictate where you do need to stop or if you should make the effort to fill up when you see a gas station it is a handy piece of information to have stored in your brain.
To put it into perspective my bike on average gets around 200-220 before reserve (13 litres of fuel) 210k's / 13 litres = 16.15k's per litre x 4 litres of reserve = 64.6k's I should be able to run on reserve before i am pushing my bike.
