    Tyre blowouts

Riding home tonite and just out of Foxton heading north as I came up behind a Truck and trailer,as I was passing him I get just pass the trucks rear axles and there was an almighty BOOM!!!!!

I haven't been given the shits like that for a bloody long time,Too see the rubber still flying through the air when I look behind made me relise that was alot closer that I had thought,it was a righthand outside tyre

They don't in trucks either unless they're total idiots

Ok then called on my hyperbole. Anything up to 120psi depending on application. Better?

Most truck tires are between 50psi and 100psi depending on application and wether or not its a single wheel or dual wheels on the same axle

Want to know if a blow out on a truck next to you can kill you?

Mythbusters have done it... and I'm not ashamed to say I floor it whenever I'm near a truck...

The vast majority of blowouts are of the severity that they can kill, but you gotta be in the right place.

I've had big single tyres go pop and they've left big dents in the fuel trailers. Those long strips of rubber you see along the road are typically from retreads, which tend to chuck the tread off when they've suffered long enough.

The force of a big single tyre going pop was enough to make the alloy rim look like a rose, with the outer edges looking like flower petals, made even the tyre guy look surprised...

Thankfully our fuel tanker fleet is now on new tyres, no more recaps

Ouchy. That didn't look good. Luckily it doesn't happen that often.

Those truck rims are dangerous imagine changing them there split rims under alot of pressure
people that work them have to use common sence saftey measures thats for sure
you can be injured if they let go , you just have to see on the side the road big chunks truck tire
    sometimes

Tubeless has very little to do with "blowouts" most of them tubed or tubeless are caused by a loss of pressure (puncture) which causes a lot of flexing and heat build up until the tyre is weakened to the point it blows or falls to bits
