I think you'll find that Sir Ed got his gong for all the stuff he did after he climbed the mountain.

I'm with you on this one. They sucked the money out of everyone else , they didn't give it all to someone else.

That is correct and he deserved it.

As much as i like Richie and he is a great footy player.....to give him a knighthood is crap. The man is only 30 and really hasn't done anything for the wider community yet.
Next thing we will find one of these honours in the weetbix packet.

He summited Everest on the 29th of may 1953 and was awarded his knighthood on the 6th of June 1953.

Edit, Thats seven days to do a hell of a lot of good stuff. Even god didn't get a Knighthood for what he did in seven days

Ed thoroughly deserved a Knighthood and is the perfect recipient, not just for the summit, but for his life afterwards.

How long has he been wearing an All Black shirt? I'm sure he does things for charity and attends all sorts of functions etc... as an ambassador for the squad... and to be rendered, because of your sport, that ugly at the age of 30, a knighthood is the least he deserves given how they throw these things around. In fact, give him 2.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

    You gosh darn rugby haters.

He singlehandedly created & led a very successful All black campaign to beat what has been overwhelmingly the very best national teams ever assembled.
The Rugby world cup as drawn millions of tourists into NZ & millions more will arrive & put money in our pockets. This event has elevated NZ to one of the top nations in the world in terms of Rugby, hospitality, patriotism, social welfare awareness & environmentally responsible industry. Don't believe me - then prove me wrong!

All the kids at school know his name & face (they ever heard of Mother theresa?) He would sell more products than Sir Ed & is way better looking (ask some of your partners & I'm sure they'd agree)

Like it or not the times are changing & his is the face of the new hero. Move over Brylcreem hair product is here!

    Sir Sue Bradford then......

Knighthoods should be abolished, just because he was offered one.

So some dude runs around chasing after a ball and he gets knighted. What's next, some dude pops a wheelie and then he's a knight?

Knighting is an archaic attachment we have to the crown. Give him New Zealander of the year and be done with it.
