I'm sure there is something in there about following distances and riding at a speed you can stop short of the vehicle in front of you.

    Could have been very nasty.

was that Russian for "Oh God"... been in that position before. We had just lost my step mother and Dad was, well, not really thinking very clearly... or was just very positive. Me in the back, her brother in the front, Dad driving up the Rest and off in the distance a log lorry coming around the corner, a good half K away (maybe a K). No great drama as we're overtaking a people carrier, well inching passed it and there seemed to be plenty of time. Amazing how a lorry travelling down hill can pick up so much speed so quickly. The fucker we were overtaking coulda touched his brakes and we'd have been absolutely fine... but nooo, t'was time to play chicken with a laden log lorry flashing his lights as he wasn't gonna stop, the dickhead next to us not buttoning off and Dad with his head in a dark place believing that he could make it... greatfully Dad won, her brother was half rising out of his seat murmmering something about shit shit shit, I was rabbit in headlights flicking my head between oncoming lorry and people carrier to the left and Dad was showing two fingers to the reaper on all of our behalfs... it was as close as that vid front and back. Sometimes there's just no time for brown stuff.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Brown trouser? Glad you're so relaxed. That was pretty much life flashing before your eyes to me...

I had that happen at work a couple of weeks back...traveling much slower, I came around a corner and found a semi coming down the hill sideways. I had the time to stop, then reverse down the hill and pull into a side road as the truck continued to slide slowly past. Eventually he stopped about 500 m further, totally doubled up wedged firmly in the berms either side of the road.

Good skills from the truckie, had the transporter do that to me coming down the jollys pass with a 22 ton digger on the back and a courier van coming up the hill towards me,good job he drove off the road.

    I've done that, But closer.

My old boys elbow cracked my shoulder as I twisted my body to try and avoid impact as a I flew past him after he dropped his speed because there was a dog on the road.
