Before you scoff you young whippersnapper, there are a lot of people around who remember when black and white tv's were a novelty and mobile phones have been around for only a fraction of their lives. Phone? I'll give you phone. Woody woody woody!
We humans have brains that tend to be good at problem solving when applying logical and rational thought. With how simple modern technology is to use compared to old 80's command line interface computers it should be a piece of cake.

Plus you even have loads of youtube videos on how to use such a phone, and you can even just get the manual online from the manufacturers website. If you can be on KB it should be of no issue, it tends to be a defeatist attitude rather than an old dog not being able to learn new tricks.

Dude you grew up with this technology. You're being closed minded and igorant if you expect people who didn't to be able to understand it like you do.

I've spent the last 5 years trying to teach my dad how to use internet explorer and google, and he's only just coming to grips with the basics. It doesn't even occur to him to google something that he doesn't know the answer to, because for his whole life that's not how it's been done.

The first time I had ever used Android was with my mates Galaxy S. He was driving and he wanted me to send a txt and then turn on the GPS navigation. It took me about 1 minute to figure it out without any help from him, and after playing with the phone for about 5 minutes I had a good idea about how to use Android.

Since the phone only has 1 main button (the back button), and everything else is controlled by putting your finger on the thing you want to open, or moving the finger to scroll up or down, it doesn't take a lot of skill to use it. The more advanced features do take a bit more time to get the hang of, and I still don't know how to use every feature of my phone (like how to configure a proxy) and I only learnt a few weeks ago about how to setup the APNs.

I'm not exactly a computer whiz either, I'm still pretty much a complete n00b with these things.

My parents who are in their 60s seem to have managed fine on their own. And since in the OP it was stated the phone was for work I assume he is under 65. Therefore no problem, just typical angry old dude who CBF'd.

How do you think you would go on the landing?

No its not, I have no starting point, the only point and click device I am really good with shoots a 75 cal round ball.

I can also fly a plane, quite well actually.

Why then do I only get emails at work on the thing? My old Blackberry got them to me everywhere. Is this thing connecting to the server wireless and not via G3?

Usually it isn't automatically setup as it costs extra to send over 4G network. Though I would have thought your work would have set that up before handing you the phone?

You may need to configure the APNs to connect via 3G, if you are using the phone on a different phone network than it has been configured for. You can find out how to do this on Google.

To get emails to work on the phone you can either download a third party email client (similar to Microsoft Outlook Express) or you can use the web based email client (like hotmail.com or gmail.com). To do this open the "browser" which is your web browser.

Do you have a Gmail account? Android is designed to sync with your Google account (Gmail, Youtube etc), so you can enter your Google account user name and password, then your phone will notify you each time you receive a new email (provided you have mobile data network connections enabled, or wifi).
