Best come up with a desired time and work backwards? I'm happy to adjust start time to suit.

We are budgeting getting batons to Sanson 10 to 11

Yes we do need too have more scheduled time table of when batons will be where?

I raise this event at the club(tomcc) meeting last night, and there seemed to be alot of support and interest too accompay the baton carriers

I dont know about others but I have no problems spending 12 hours on the bike

I'll ride from hamilton/cambridge sorta zone.. just rode it (at 2am) on monday - took about 1hr 20 from mystery creek to Manurewa.. so, if you pick a time you want to arrive at the stadium, make sure we're leaving the 'Tron at around 2hrs earlier (15 mins for getting people actually on bikes, and stuff..)

Work backwards from there - would be my suggestion.

It depends on number of support riders each carrier has and how many are going all the way to Auckland, and each baton carrier pick's there own route which is going to dictate the time batons pass from one carrier to the next, considering that the relay of life is a 24 hour event,I can't see any problems arriving sometime sunday morning,

Remember there is 2 batons and it would be great for both to meet up outside Auckland and arrive together as a sign of unity really...

yeah which is why I thought if we all met at cambridge, say, we could all ride in together... there is a nice ride from cambridge to taupiri now, all nice wide country roads - they have called it a bypass of sorts.. saves going through hamiltons 25000 roundabouts..

Just had an add up K's from Sanson.

Sanson to Te Kuiti via NP = 365ks
Sanson to Te kuiti via Napier = 471ks. (an extra 40 ks going the Gentle Annie)

Te Kuiti to Mirangi Bay = 200ks.

    Round figures..
Wellington to Mirangi Bay via NP = 715Ks
Wellington to Mirangi Bay via Napier/Taupo = 820Ks

7am leave time....shall we settle for a 10 hour day?
    7pm @ Mirangi Bay?

The LOR's from the Tron will be sorting that bit out...
Those that want to ride the last leg can join in where they determined.
    Even me.
I doubt Cambridge will even feature.
Here is a probable route from Te Kuiti (where the two Batons will meet)

te Kuiti is fine with me... I was just thinking of a common point to meet up - and since I was in cambridge last weekend...

Myself and a few mates will be riding down from AK to say, Te Kuiti - stop for coffee, refuel and ride back with the crew - so anyone who wants to ride with us is more than welcome..

Who's going too tell Sinfull he's gotta get up early

Reakon If Bill hits Sanson about 10am and we allow 7 hours for the batons to get to Te kuti (al's latte stops) there is no reason why we couldn't be there by 8/9pm as a whole group.

Your call Mark if you want as there by 9 we will be there...

Sounds good to me Barry...around 5pm in Te kuiti...8pmish at Mirangi Bay.
Will be stopping here--->>http://maps.google.co.nz/maps/place?...32233007078837 on the Taupo trip, might ask if they will stay open a little longer for us on the day.

I'd work out an expected time for each leg (with each stage controller specifying their route), add a little bit of a buffer (a longer stop on the next handover is never a problem), then factor in a stop time at each place, add it all together, and there ya go.

7am start? yee gads, what have I got myself into Oh... also, wasn't sure if there was going to be some sort of formal start at Wellington Motorcycles, coz if there was, it would dictate a later start, as they open later... Dunno, thought I saw that somewhere...
